Hello,
first of all, I’d be interested to know whether anyone is even taking care of all these glitches.
With the ``word chain`` you sometimes can’t see posts that should be there. With a pretty considerable delay they eventually become visible, which is mega annoying and takes the fun out of the game. On top of that, everything keeps switching back and forth between English and German. Things were better before 🤣😂

OP3 weeks agoWhat I’m still wondering.....Why on earth is the notifications page/settings in English? Not everyone is fluent in this language, and besides, I’m on the German site too.

Probably because BEVY software only works in English, and they're now working on translating it piece by piece.
Some phones do that - when I open a post that was written in GERMAN, it appears in English for a short time, and at the top: "Is being translated, this may take a moment". But it only takes a few seconds. That's how it is for me.
mullewapp
OP3 weeks agoI’d rather do this here on my laptop, it’d be too fiddly for me on my phone. Germany is unfortunately lagging a bit (more) behind when it comes to digitalization.

I actually didn’t want to write to you anymore, but this statement is simply wrong:
"It would be nice if more attention could be paid to this in the future - not everyone is willing to put up with this kind of loutish tone."
I could detect a loutish tone neither in my own replies nor in those of other mentors.
petersmodellbahnstuebchen
·3 weeks agoI write here whenever and wherever I want. Everyone else can do that too.
However, when false claims are made about the mentors’ tone of voice, namely a brash tone, I’m unfortunately forced to respond.
Of course all of you can stop writing here, I won’t be doing that. Otherwise I wouldn’t have taken on the role of mentor. However, I do think very carefully about whose posts I respond to here, because I’m allowed to, but not obliged to.
And no one is stopping you here from writing a reply to @steffi@ebay . Just do it, but don’t expect a reply before next week.

Hello everyone,
I’d like to step in here in general for a moment.
I can see that some features and changes in the community are still causing frustration. Criticism and feedback are expressly welcome – and they’re important to us too, because only if we know where there are difficulties or what you’re missing can we take up these points and pass them on.
That’s exactly why we’ve now set up our feedback form. There you can submit your feedback, suggestions for improvement, and wishes centrally. That helps us capture and follow up on the individual topics in a structured way.
At the same time, I also want to slightly dispute the claim that “nobody cares about all the mess-ups.” 😉 Since the switch, quite a bit has already happened – partly thanks to your feedback. For example:
Private messages have been introduced.
Dark mode is now available. 🌙
The German localization has been and is being expanded step by step.
Posts in question format can be marked as solutions again. ✅
Various display and functional errors have already been fixed since launch.
The AI summary can now be enlarged as needed.
and a few more points that would go beyond the scope to list here.
Further requests and reported issues have been recorded and are under review or have been passed on to Bevy.
Of course, that does not mean everything is already perfect – it isn’t. There are still points that need improvement, and some things unfortunately take longer than we ourselves would like. We can’t implement every change immediately ourselves as the community team, because some features and adjustments have to be made by our platform provider Bevy.
What I do wish in all of this, though, is that we treat each other in a factual and respectful way. Personal digs, insinuations, or mutual provocations won’t help us with the actual issues.
And please don’t automatically conclude from a missing or delayed response that no one is interested in a topic or that nobody is taking care of it. A lot happens behind the scenes, and not every point passed on gets an immediate update or any update at all, since the changes are then visible in the community.
To wrap up, one more request: For feedback, wishes, and suggestions for improvement, please use only our feedback form. 🙏 That way you can make sure your feedback reaches the right place.
I’d now ask you to end the personal discussions about who said, meant, or understood what here 💕.
Thank you for your support and also for your patience.

Best regards,
🌷 Steffi

·3 weeks ago · EditedHello @steffi@ebay if I click on the feedback form now, I only get to a "questionnaire" and nothing more. Is that intended? Of course, you can't make suggestions for improvement there or write what doesn't work here at all.
Thanks 🤗

it's not just questionnaires included. After questionnaire question 4, you could also write in your own words or text and then submit it.

·3 weeks ago · EditedHello @mullewapp
For more than a quarter of a century, I’ve been on Ebay. It used to be my El Dorado and the community was almost like my second home. That’s why - even if rather for nostalgic reasons - I’m not indifferent to the developments that have taken place on Ebay over the years and to what is happening to this community.
I also don’t like that some questions raised in the community have apparently gone unnoticed. But I take that (almost) as a given. You have to be glad that this place to turn to with "real people" even still exists. I do find the restructuring that seems to be taking place here right now rather concerning, though.
On Ebay, the opinions, wishes, and needs of users have never been taken into account when changes were made. As an Ebay member, you could always let off some steam about that in the community - and that was basically it. None of the people in charge at Ebay really care what sellers and buyers would find good and sensible. 😉
The new software for the community has been around since May, and anyone who wants to write here just has to accept it. Period. No answers are to be expected from the IT folks. They are not responsible to us either, but merely carry out the tasks assigned to them. Whether the Ebay employees here are actually convinced that the new software for the community is the non-plus-ultra is another matter.
The last Ebay Q&A session was at the end of April; are no more Q&A sessions planned? Were they replaced by the survey?
On July 10, there was a final comment in this topic asking for feedback on the new software in the community:
https://community.ebay.de/forum/fragen-zur-community-17/topic/eure-meinung-ist-gefragt-10230/?focus_post=90699
Since then, work has continued on it and some things have been changed. Now we’re in mid-September, and I’d think another update from the Community Team on the planned development as well as an explanation of the current functions would not be bad.
I’m copying here the reply that Steffi wrote on July 16, 2026 in the word chain; it’s hard to find there:
I understood Steffi’s text to mean that the new tree structure is regarded as an advantage. It applies uniformly to the entire community. There is no way to set a different topic structure in individual categories. We just have to accept that.
I also assume that post moderation in the community will remain, however obstructive it may be.
A small part of the irritation in games like the "word chain" can be prevented by posting no images and never using the reply function, but always only the comment function. The topic has to be set to "newest first" and the page has to be refreshed several times before you post a comment in the topic. More we as members cannot do in this respect.

OPSep 14, 2026 at 8:43 PMHello @stubenkram ,
you sure have remarkable stamina when it comes to writing. I don't, unfortunately....and somehow it seems like it doesn't really matter anyway who writes what where. Nobody can make sense of this place anymore. Since the platform switch, it's been glitching at every turn. The IT folks don't seem to care either. I think it's embarrassing for such a big company, sorry 🫢

·Sep 14, 2026 at 5:11 AMHello @mullewapp
Your question is in the wrong category, it would belong here:
https://community.ebay.de/forum/fragen-zur-community-17/
This is something that is still very impractical: to get to this and other "nested categories," you first have to click your way through them. The links in the dropdown in the menu at the top do not yet lead to all of the relevant categories.
Games like the word chain are completely irrelevant in this community. For that reason alone, the new "tree structure" for topics will not be abandoned. This tree structure is either not designed for longer topics at all, or it is still not mature enough. In any case, it doesn’t really work well, not even in the other topics.
Anyone who writes an "answer" instead of a "comment" creates a new thread within the topic each time. These answers are always in "oldest first" order, while the topic itself can be switched to a different order. That alone is confusing in the view.
The number of answers in such an additional thread is limited. This means that you no longer see some of these answers when you switch the topic to "newest first".
If there is more than one or two such additional threads in a topic, then apparently nothing works properly anymore. That is the case in the word chain and is probably one of the reasons why some posts there only appear at some point later, although the comment function was used to write the newer posts. The system is overwhelmed by all these threads and is "acting up".
Another source of errors is the different way the topic is accessed. It makes a difference whether you open the topic via notifications, via the overview, or via the category, and which setting you have for the post order at that moment. In any case, it is advisable to refresh the page first when viewing the topic. If you first have to switch from "oldest first" to "newest first," it’s best to refresh again.
However, the main problem for this and other topics is probably post moderation. It slows everything down, and you also don’t get an immediate indication that your own post has not yet been approved. But follow-up comments can already be created in the topic. Total chaos.
Image posts take longer to be approved; so in the word chain you should probably avoid images altogether. Editing a post also means a longer waiting time before a post becomes readable for everyone again. At night, apparently nothing gets approved anymore, which is why there are still individual posts missing in the topic in the morning in particular.
I don’t know whether there was already post moderation here "back then" or whether it is new. I only know it from very large and anonymous forums or as a "punishment" for warned and monitored members who do not follow the rules or constantly behave so badly that their posts are checked before publication.
Here in this community, I see this post moderation as "overkill". It is just annoying, slows everything down, and causes irritations that really shouldn’t be there.
Posts that violate the rules or are inappropriate are deleted here anyway. Nobody here writes obscene posts or uploads images that violate the rules. The members who write here more often are all well known and by no means so anonymous that they would need constant monitoring. It could certainly also be configured so that this post moderation only applies to members who have only created a few posts so far.
