Why aren’t members redirected to ebay.com in an emergency when searching for products?
Hello dear mods,
these days there was a request in the forum where a user was looking for books in Greek.
That is actually a bit difficult on ebay.de.
I’ve now gone to the trouble and went to ebay.com, where everyone can log in with their profile too, and lo and behold, I found something.
As a mod, couldn’t you also just take that little bit of trouble, especially since not everyone here in the forum is allowed to give an answer to that ?
Oh well, I just
allowed myself to quickly send the user the browser address as a PM.

Hello @dartshop_luggis_de, could you please send me the link to the request? But in principle, @perfect-sally already explained everything correctly. Thank you for that @perfect-sally 🌷

the problem with that was that I couldn't reply directly to the post, because then I wouldn't have opened this topic here at all.
Your IT should maybe structure Members help Members a bit differently. I opened this post in Members help Members out of ignorance, not realizing that not everyone can post here.
The staff here are very keen to offer help or point you to the right place.
But it would probably also be easier for them if you dissolved this menu item or renamed it so that the community could maybe help quickly with topics that don't need your attention right away.
For example, an idea would be
Menu items:
Members help Members
Entire Community helps Member
eBay Q&A
Or maybe you give the staff a tool so they can move such requests directly to the whole community.
I've seen quite a few interested people and helpers here so far.

Hello @dartshop_luggis_de and thanks for the link. To be honest, I don't quite understand the problem now.
You have 16 areas available in the community where you can exchange ideas with other members and also help. The Members help Members area is intended for members who haven't found the right answer on the help pages and also don't want to contact customer service directly, so they can get help here from knowledgeable people who qualify through various criteria. Just how important these criteria are, I keep seeing whenever I read a style of communication like yours, which goes against Our Community Netiquette.
You will also see that if you go through the Members help Members area, all questions have been answered wherever it was possible.
However, you are welcome to familiarize yourself with our 🎓Community Mentors Program🎓 and let me know if you are interested, so we can look into it.

OP1 year agoHello @steffi@ebay
Thanks for the heads-up about the 16 sections.
As an older gentleman who regularly moves around the www, I just wanted to draw attention to something, nothing more.
In the end, though, I actually already failed there because in the interface provided to me by eBay I couldn't even find the community format with which I could have taken the whole com along.
By the way, the user to whom I then described a way had the same problem, because he also thought he was querying the whole com.
Your interface may be good for computer nerds, but not for ordinary users, not even for experienced ones with 1000+ ratings

The Members help members section is intended to give members who haven't found what they need on the help pages and don't want to contact customer service directly the chance to get help here from knowledgeable people, who qualify through various criteria.
Question:
How many pages do I have to read in advance to find out where I should ask the com and where I can find the knowledgeable people, so I can then open my actual topic?
Can it be any easier?
My point of criticism
eBay cannot and does not want to make it easy for users, whether as a seller with a constantly new colorful interface or as a buyer/customer who more and more often no longer finds what they're looking for.
Complicated is the new simple.
Thanks for the note about the mentor program, but I probably don't quite fit it. I may be able to be helpful and show workable solutions, but I wear my heart on my sleeve. That could sometimes make things difficult with your netiquette.
Thank you very much for this conversation, you can please tick the "problem solved" box.
I wish you a nice day

OP1 year agoWhere else can I find the board I need to choose if I want to start a general thread on a topic where everyone can also contribute content so I can get help?
Even I wasn’t exactly sure whether I was in the right place with "community". 🤔
Thanks for your reply.
Have a nice day 😀

·1 year agoAs far as I know, you should only not choose "Members help members" because there only the creator and the mentors can reply.
dartshop_luggis_de
OP1 year agoBut it does say members help members,
and then not everyone can help ??? 🙄
So why isn’t everyone allowed to contribute something helpful, truthful, and meaningful?
That’s exactly why many choose this path.
Find the programming error
Maybe one should replace members with eBay employees once, then it would be understandable for many users, or even just for me 🙄

·1 year agoThe MAs can reply anywhere; they also have nothing to do with the board.
And yes, the name "Members help members" is perhaps phrased a bit awkwardly.
In Members help members, only MAs and mentors can reply. But sometimes that’s quite good too, so that every Tom, Dick, and Harry can’t add their two cents. There are threads here every so often where you might think everyone works at Hengstenberg and feels they need to add their two cents. Often, unfortunately, not exactly helpful either.
If you want that, just choose another board and everyone can reply.

first of all, no mods write here 😉 The mods are responsible in the background for making sure that netiquette is followed and delete or "encrypt" (bleep) communications that are not allowed.
And it is not the job of the eBay employees who are helping us out here so much to help users with their searches.
It’s slowly turning here into not just supervised selling, but supervised searching too. In fact, every user could come up with those ideas themselves, but that would mean starting to think 😉 Asking here is much easier; someone will search for me — that’s the thinking of some users. That really doesn’t have to be the case.
Give a hungry person a fish, and they will have food for a day. Show a hungry person how to catch fish, and they will eat every day.
And thanks to your help, that person can now search for such items themselves and hopefully find them too. The other users here are also welcome to help out. And if you can’t reply in certain threads, then the thread starter simply chose the wrong board.

·1 year agoWell, you can’t really just leave it at that either; think about how much crap you get shown from abroad / got shown when you search on .de. Because of all this years-long mixed-up mess, nobody searches on .com or .whatever the heck, .com anymore

·1 year agoAlternatively, it would still be questionable whether the person looking is even willing to buy abroad, since shipping costs from the USA can be hefty and import tax is added on top, so that could end up being an expensive reading pleasure.
