Who is a mentor, how is that person trained, and are they allowed to say whatever they want and deck others in the face, and is there only one???
Summary: alexhel54 expressed frustration over the response received from a mentor on the platform, questioning the qualifications and conduct of such mentors. oskar_der_wikinger clarified the role of mentors, emphasizing they are experienced users, not employees, and offered advice on engaging constructively in the community. steffi@ebay outlined alternative ways to contact support and emphasized respectful interactions. The discussion underscores the importance of courteous communication and appropriate channels for resolving issues.
Hello, and sorry, I’m in here for the first time, BECAUSE IT HAS BECOME NECESSARY, and wanted to report a problem..help to help yourself - that’s how I read it in other posts and come straight here, not before the SO-CALLED MENTOR has even commented on it and ask prophylactically right away..one can surely expect a respectful tone regarding a described problem, can’t one? And afterward WHO APPOINTS WHOM HERE UNDER WHAT CRITERIA, CONDITIONS, TRAINING, COURSES LEGAL ADVISOR??? as a MENTOR? What exactly does he train people for here, and right after that..TECHNICAL PROBLEMS ARE OF COURSE TO BE EXPECTED ON A PLATFORM OF THIS SIZE, WITH THE IT BACKGROUND THE EXORBITANT POSSIBILITIES AND MEANS ...I could list 30000 other arguments, NO EXCUSE FOR EVERYTHING and for cheeky and condescending answers to problems that, of course, explicitly find their place and scope here, or not?? Wow, this mentor belongs—with all due respect—nowhere anymore, except to a proper etiquette school and doesn’t need to give me ANY ANSWER to my problem at all..a really bad calling card for eBay.. but apparently she can’t help herself, and so I ask directly and suggest: what legal situation does seller protection cover overall, where can I turn with legal problems, and do I really have to put up with everything unprotected?? And ..oh damn, I wish I had never let myself be tempted to put even a spark of trust in a private sale and am only sadder and poorer than before..
The whole help page and topic selection is like a medical encyclopedia..and for heaven’s sake, if there’s going to be AI, then I don’t want to hear that IT LEARNS FROM ME, but that it advises me, and if it can’t do that in special or small matters, then a staff member without discussion would really be helpful...
Sorry and I swear, I’m not usually like this and I really don’t think it’s good at all to have to react like this, because HELP does mean help, doesn’t it? I don’t understand what became of the word SERVICE or CUSTOMER SERVICE??
Well then, best regards, Alex from Göttingen

Hello Alex @alexhel54 , first of all, a warm welcome to the eBay Community – even if the reason that brought you here is unfortunately not a pleasant one. 💛
Thank you very much for taking the time to describe your thoughts and experiences in such detail. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any post that directly matches your description here – maybe I overlooked it or it has already been moderated?
The community thrives on voluntary exchange between members. Our mentors volunteer their time and share their experiences to help others. Of course, this can sometimes lead to differing viewpoints or misunderstandings. Respectful interaction with one another is important for everyone involved, however – regardless of whether someone is new or has been a member of the community for a long time. 🤝
Regarding your question about legal matters: the Community cannot provide legal advice. If you need a binding legal assessment of your specific case, we recommend that you contact a consumer advice center or legal counsel. There, your case can be reviewed individually. ⚖️
If you like, feel free to reply directly to Elke's reply from the Community Support Team. 😊 Then we can look at your case together and support you as best as possible in finding a suitable solution. 🤝
I hope that despite your difficult start, you still give the Community a chance. Many dedicated members support here with a lot of passion and simply want to help. 🌻
I wish you that a good solution can still be found for your concern. 🍀

·1 month agoHello @alexhel54
you've only opened two topics here so far and haven't received any replies yet, so you'll need to describe the place where someone used the wrong tone.
As for your question, mentors are experienced eBay users across the board, not employees of the platform, who try to help others with small or larger problems.
Every now and then an eBay employee is also tagged; they can look into the transactions and, if needed, give things a little push.
What can happen, however, if a question asker comes here and doesn't respond to advice at all, is that they then get a verbal smackdown, so to speak.
For your next post here, one more tip: please use paragraphs, as that makes it easier to read, and please don't use all caps, because that is interpreted as shouting.

·1 month agoThat's a good answer. But the capitalization isn't consistent, and I get the impression that I can understand that the writer sometimes feels exactly like that. For a similar reason, I left the o2 community and now only contact o2 via Facebook chat. Ebay apparently doesn't offer that.

Hello @mutathe , you can actually reach eBay via Facebook too. You'll find the two official pages here:
📘 eBay Germany (C2C): https://www.facebook.com/ebay.de/
📘 eBay for Business: https://www.facebook.com/ebayforbusiness.de/
Depending on the issue, contacting them via Facebook can be a good alternative. 😊
