Credit card purchase even though there is no eBay account, how is that possible
Summary: schwammerl00 reports that his sister has credit card charges for purchases through eBay, even though she does not have an account. The bank cannot reverse the charges, and a response from eBay shows the buyer. perfect-sally and petersmodellbahnstuebchen explain that you can make guest purchases on eBay. petersmodellbahnstuebchen recommends blocking the credit card immediately and filing a police report. It is pointed out that data can always be stolen online.
Hello everyone, I’m writing to you all on behalf of my sister, who doesn’t have her own eBay account, but the following problem has happened
This Monday she had two credit card transactions visible in her account, two purchases via eBay. As mentioned above, my sister doesn’t have an eBay account, never has had one, and certainly won’t in the future either
The strange problem is that her bank can’t reverse the amount; it also wasn’t authorized by her, whether by fingerprint or app confirmation
But as already mentioned, her bank can’t reverse the amount. We have now contacted Impressum at eBay by email, and today we also got a reply, from which it was clear who bought these two items with the item number, one and the same
Now I wanted to track down this buyer based on the name, but no chance. Has anyone experienced this case before and knows how we should proceed? A report to the police has already been filed as well

What does ng mean?

As @perfect-sally already wrote, anyone can buy on Ebay as a guest.
And if your sister perhaps handled her credit card details a bit carelessly, then of course those details can be used to pay online at any time.
My first and urgent recommendation would be to have the card blocked immediately before the "guest buyer" gets any other ideas.
Secondly, of course, file a report against unknown persons and hand over all evidence of this incident to the police.
Unfortunately, these days it happens again and again that the servers of some platforms are hacked and the customer data stolen in the process is sold in the dark web.
Kind regards from the Baltic Sea

·2 weeks agoYou don’t need an eBay account to buy through eBay, you can buy as a guest and receive the purchase confirmation in your email program.
And unfortunately, guest purchases can’t be helped here either, the customer service has to be contacted for that.
"where it was clearly visible who bought these two items with the item number, one and the same ng"
What does this mean then: one and the same ng?
And what does the police say about it? Are you absolutely sure that your sister didn’t buy as a guest after all?
Wouldn’t be the first time something like this has come up here.
