Seller cancels after 4 days, despite additional bids
Huhuuuu.
Seller cancels the purchase, but I had written that I still have bids on his items.
Apparently he can’t help it, eBay did that.
Well then, he set it up that way and apparently has no clue.
Now I’m the one with the note.
Trying to get rid of it on your own with the help of AI - pointless ...
I don’t know who’s on duty - and it’s Friday evening ...
Best wishes
Terri/Biggi

·3 weeks agoHello @terri131719
Basically, the 4-day payment deadline applies, which is why you also get a reminder directly from the system.
A deadline beyond that, e.g. because you want to buy several items, is purely at the seller's discretion and you should actively arrange that with the seller. You did inform the seller in a certain way, but I don't think they understood the note.
Unfortunately, I can't remove the note, since you really didn't pay within the 4 days.
Thanks for your tag @perfect-sally
Kind regards
Samantha

OP3 weeks agoOh great, it worked last time.
Why should I pay anyway if I’m collecting, and I wrote him this: "Hello terri131719,Thank you very much for your purchase! The following item is ready to ship: ... Unfortunately, I can only send the item above once the payment has been received. When can I expect payment?I would appreciate a prompt reply.Thank you!

What’s unclear about that?
But it doesn’t matter now anyway!

·3 weeks agoIf you want to buy multiple items and the auctions end, for example, 6 days apart, you let the seller know or ask them, then they can check the settings and turn off an automatic purchase cancellation. If you as the buyer don’t inform them (or only do so at the last minute), not every seller has the tech in mind - some have the automatic cancellation set up, others don’t (I don’t, because I pay attention to activity and ask if in doubt). Sellers can also add certain exceptions - yours would be one too - to lists so that there’s no cancellation/note for you.
A little more communication could have avoided the note.

OP3 weeks agoEnough has been communicated. The problem is that the seller simply has no clue: "Good day, the purchase was automatically canceled by eBay, unfortunately I can’t do anything about that"
terri131719
OP3 weeks agoBut that's irrelevant now. It's a done deal.
Before the changes here, such notes could be deleted.
Apparently not anymore.

·3 weeks agoNot every seller has "simply no clue" - but not all the technical tricks in the back of their mind, which you also seem to be experiencing right now when you say that the note could still be deleted here before the change. A short sentence is not enough for a complex action (combining shipping as a courtesy, it was a private seller after all). You just have to actively point out that you want to buy several items and look together to see whether it’s technically possible and whether it doesn’t put anyone at a disadvantage - neither the buyer nor the seller.
For example: If you ask the seller for later shipping because you’re on vacation and they agree to the request, THEY get a big defect on their account because items weren’t shipped on time. THAT is what I mean.

OP3 weeks agoIt's not about everyone, but about THIS seller. 7
I had a similar case last year BEFORE the change at eBay itself. Back then, tech could still intervene. And NO. If I sell here, I should already make myself familiar with how it works. This seller hasn't managed that in 14 years. And a message saying that I might want to buy several items should be enough here. I have sold here myself, privately and for a commercial seller as a "mom tool"; the word "personal responsibility" is already firmly part of the program there. If I still have to instruct sellers here - no thanks.

·3 weeks agoIt’s not about ‘instructing’, but about agreeing on it. A private seller is not a commercial system. If you buy and collect there, you simply have to expect that default settings are active. If you don’t want to take the risk of an automatic cancellation, ask briefly beforehand – that’s just part of collecting on eBay since the system change. You decided against that, and unfortunately that’s the result you have on your account now.

Hi Biggi,
even though the damage is already done, on your next attempt you can clarify with the seller in advance what they’ve set in their selling settings for unpaid items.
Edit 22:48: By the way, the shipping settings are also relevant.
I think a lot of sellers don’t have this on their radar at all, whether private or commercial.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea

@samantha@ebay could you take a look please? Thanks
And yes, a lot of sellers don’t have a handle on the settings, or they simply don’t know that at least some of it is preset by eBay.
