Seller demands a higher price after the fact
Summary: laengerlang reported that a seller on eBay is asking for a higher price afterward for an item won at auction. stubenkram and other participants advised reporting the seller to eBay, which laengerlang eventually did. nina@ebay from eBay confirmed that the seller is violating the rules and promised to review it. The discussion also centered on buyers’ rights and options, as well as eBay’s monitoring and notification practices.
eBay item no.:318766968389
I won an item for €11.90; after the purchase, the seller demanded €37.50. I get an email from the seller with a link to buy the item for €37.50.
You have the option to purchase the item for a fair price. You have 24 hours to do so. Then the offer ends. This purchase here will be canceled after 24 hours and you will get your money back. Thank you very much.
This is outrageous that eBay allows something like this. I feel ripped o......, I’m lost for words about this process

·1 week ago@nina@ebay could you please take a look at this, it just can’t be that sellers behave like this. Thanks

·1 week ago · EditedHello @laengerlang
I'm not sure whether you're allowed to write the item number here without being asked to do so by an Ebay employee/mentor.
I just looked at this seller, his ratings, and his comments about it. He probably won't be allowed to sell here much longer. Ebay might also have an issue with his user picture.
Did you report his message, or rather the seller, to Ebay?

OP1 week agoI'm a bit surprised - why can't you provide an item number. The seller is violating eBay rules and doesn't want to deliver the item. This really makes eBay pointless; as a buyer, you're helplessly at their mercy. Unfortunately, I can't get any further on the help pages.

·1 week ago@laengerlang Hey. 🙂 Here your seller is definitely violating our guidelines. Please report the seller so that our specialist department can review this once.
@perfect-sally Thanks a lot for the tag. ❤
Kind regards,
Nina

OP1 week agoHello, I’ve now reported the seller. But when at the end of the report it says we’re looking into the matter, but we can’t inform you about the steps we may take—I don’t find that helpful.

·1 week agoAnd you think eBay would tell you or maybe even make public how they handle and respond to that? You won’t find out something like that at any company, that’s internal stuff.
You can save the seller and then you’ll see if there are no more items online or if the account disappears completely.

OP1 week agoOk, I'm just a bit beside myself right now, but sellers like that should be banned.

·1 week agoHi @laengerlang
of course you can mention the item number or the order number here so that an Ebay employee can check the background.
@perfect-sally has already tagged the lovely @nina@ebay , who will surely check the background.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea

·1 week agoThe help pages don’t help either, and contacting a phone joker certainly won’t either.
The marked eBay employee will definitely pass this on, and they’ll surely also check the comments on the red feedback he’s received, as well as the logo he uses. People like that have no place on eBay, and I hope eBay sees it that way too.

·1 week agoI don't know whether you're allowed to do it without being asked or not.
But the forum rules basically say that you must not disparage sellers. That's why I didn't write my personal opinion about this seller earlier either. 😉
