Item sold, shipped, but the post office didn't scan the packages
Summary: zeraphinestern reports that they sold and shipped items through eBay, but the postal service didn’t scan the packages, even though they were delivered. As a result, eBay is withholding the payment because the shipments are being treated as not delivered. perfect-sally explains that in such cases a payout can take up to 30 days, and with basic letter tracking there is no real proof of delivery. Messages or feedback from buyers are not accepted as proof. zeraphinestern asks whether buyers can mark the deliveries as received to speed things up, which, according to perfect-sally, is not possible.
Hello, I sold items and printed out the shipping labels via eBay Post and sent them off. For some reason, though, the post office didn’t scan the packages, but did deliver them... and so they show up in tracking as not shipped and not delivered. However, I’ve already received positive feedback from the buyers and made sure the packages arrived. Now the problem is: eBay is withholding the payment because the packages are considered not delivered. What can I do to get my money?
Best regards

MentorSep 17, 2026 at 2:09 PMHello @zeraphinestern what's important are tracking numbers AND proof of delivery.
You waive your seller protection if that goes wrong and eBay doesn't have proof of delivery when the buyer reports an item not received.
Please read
https://pages.ebay.de/verkauferschutz-grundsatz/
and in future send with a shipping method that explicitly documents delivery, otherwise you'll end up losing both the goods and the money at some point.

Wait! Without tracking and without proof of delivery, it can take up to 30 days before the payout is made.
What packages did you send, then, for €2.85 in charged shipping costs? For that money, there’s no parcel shipping.

OPSep 17, 2026 at 1:28 PMI sent it as a large letter with basic shipment tracking. This has always worked without any problems for other sold items, but with these shipments, which I also sent all in one go, something must have gone wrong at the post office. Can't the buyers just mark the deliveries as received to force it? Best regards

MentorSep 17, 2026 at 1:35 PMAs mentioned, letters only have basic tracking and no real proof of delivery.
On eBay there is no function with which the buyer can confirm receipt, and messages or feedback are not really accepted as proof.
