Requesting a return as a seller is overwhelming me.. I guess I'm clicking the wrong thing.
Summary: dm-werkstattzeugs sent the wrong item to a buyer, realized it was more valuable than intended, and struggled to correct the mistake as eBay's message system was not user-friendly for them. The buyer requested a return, and dm-werkstattzeugs was hesitant to proceed with eBay's steps, fearing automatic refunds. They were also unable to manage return postage due to technical difficulties. bootyooty suggested waiting for a response from a specific eBay employee for guidance.
Hello .... I accidentally sent my buyer the wrong item (3x the value), I noticed it when it was already on its way. Then I wrote to him several times, but apparently he can’t find his way to his messages.
2 weeks later the return request came in because of the wrong item and whether I could still send him the right one. But it only came through the "return messages" and not through the eBay messages. I can only reply to this message if I also agree to a refund. Being able to adjust the refund under "details" doesn’t work for me. That’s why I’m not clicking through there, because I don’t want eBay to reverse the full cost to me again (I had also sent the correct item then).
I also wanted to send just a return postage DHL thing again to see whether I could see any further entries there, but what I can select as return postage through eBay would be too little for the item (by weight).
I don’t have any postage app or anything else for sending labels, because I never really got into it.
Can someone tell me where I’m being too stupid?

If you open the return, you'll get a selection of how you'd like to provide the label.
As soon as you've selected something, the Continue button turns blue and you can buy the label. A refund is not triggered this way.

OP2 weeks agoHello, thanks for the reply, so I could only choose between Hermes and DHL there for a fixed parcel price that is too low (maybe because I had already entered it too low in the auction). Maybe I should actually try "Contact eBay to resolve the case" so that I can get in touch with the seller.
