Payout withheld despite delivery until 11/09 – eBay app still shows “Ready for pickup”

Hello everyone,
my frustration with eBay is slowly getting bigger and bigger.
On 11 August, I sold an item worth €1,700 and, of course, sent it insured with DHL and tracking. According to DHL, the package was picked up by the buyer from the parcel locker on 16/08. The pickup is clearly documented in the DHL app.
In the eBay app, however, the status is still shown as “Ready for pickup”. As of today, 21/08, the status on eBay still hasn’t been updated.
Because of this, I’ve already had to call eBay customer service three times, unfortunately without any result so far. Customer service even seemed able to confirm that the buyer is satisfied with the item. Even so, my payout is still being withheld.
Apparently I’m now supposed to receive my money only on 11/09, almost a month after the sale and despite proof of delivery or pickup by the buyer. That is absolutely incomprehensible to me for an amount of €1,700.
So far I’ve always received positive feedback, sold things regularly, and done nothing wrong. All the more disappointing that eBay is simply insisting on withholding the money in this case, despite clear DHL tracking and multiple attempts to contact them.
Has anyone here ever experienced a similar case? How long did it take until eBay corrected the delivery status and released the payout?

Hello @cleverduck33 ! I looked into this and the pickup was correctly recognized by us and is not the reason for the hold.
The reason for the hold is rather the amount or type of this specific transaction. For certain high-priced items or sales that differ from an account's previous sales history, the amount can be temporarily held back. This gives the other person enough time to receive and check the item before the money becomes available. For this sale, release is still scheduled for September 11; updating the tracking number in our system won't help either.

OP6 days agoNothing has really happened yet, which is what annoys me the most: customer service still hasn’t managed to change the DHL tracking from pickup to picked up. I’ve now been lied to for the 5th time that they’re taking care of it, but absolutely nothing is happening. I’ve just been strung along for 2 weeks. An outrage!

OP2 weeks agoIs it normal that a package that was picked up exactly 7 days ago (it was shipped with DHL) still hasn’t been updated?
This is incredibly frustrating with eBay..

Mentor2 weeks agoThis often happens with users who haven’t sold anything for ages and then list an expensive electrical item that’s prone to complaints. On top of that, you only have 1 current rating as a seller and are still listed as a new seller again.
And in this case, the withholding has nothing to do with the shipment status; on eBay that often lags behind.

It would have been really nice to know this beforehand, waiting 30 days for your money. Then I would very likely have looked for a different platform to sell on. I will probably also use a different platform in the future for something of this size.
