Meaning of 'Hot Auction' and its impact on your buying behavior
Summary: stroh-raine initiated a discussion about the concept of 'Heiße Auktion' on eBay, seeking community insights on its impact on purchasing behavior, strategies, and personal experiences. hasjana shared their indifference to such auctions, emphasizing a set price point for purchases and noting better deals with fixed prices. petersmodellbahnstuebchen explained that a 'Heiße Auktion' is designated when a listing has five or more bids. They too are unaffected by it, as they have a clear understanding of their buying and selling price limits.
Hello dear community members,
I hope you all have had a successful eBay experience lately. Today I’d like to throw an exciting topic into the mix that surely every one of us has stumbled across in one way or another: "Hot auction".
For some, that can be an exciting experience; others may feel pressured or find it challenging to deal with. What does "hot auction" mean to you? How do these auctions affect your buying behavior on eBay? In some cases, "hot auction" is interpreted as a hint at a particularly sought-after item or a bid that is rising quickly. It would also be interesting to hear how you might adjust your strategy when you come across such an auction.
I’m looking forward to hearing your experiences, tips, and opinions. Maybe you’ve developed successful tactics, or have you ever had a nasty surprise? Let’s discuss it in the comments!
Best regards and here’s to a lively discussion,

Mentor1 week agoHey @stroh-raine
if an auction has more than >= 5 bids, it is called a "Hot Auction" on eBay.
I myself am not influenced by that at all, since I usually know at what price I can buy and sell again.
Best regards from the Baltic Sea

Mentor1 week agodidn't influence me 20 years ago, and that still holds true today
I have price x that I want to spend on an item, and if someone else has to pay just 1 cent more (in an auction), then tough luck for them
with fixed prices, there are often enough identical offers with lower prices and better sellers, which, for whatever reason, aren't as "hot" ... good for me
