Received a defective item
Summary: trixxer90 reports that a used car radio advertised as working is defective. After discussions with the seller and inspection at a workshop, the radio is to be sent back, but trixxer90 does not want to pay for the return shipping. perfect-sally advises opening a return, since the item does not match the description, and explains that the seller has to pay for the return shipping. trixxer90 asks whether eBay automatically provides a return label or whether you have to wait for the seller.
Hello everyone,
I bought a used but working radio for my car. At least that’s what the listing from the seller said. Unfortunately this one doesn’t work, or is defective. It was even checked and measured by a workshop.
After a long back and forth with the seller, I’m supposed to send it back. But I don’t see why I should pay for return shipping for a defective radio. How should I proceed?
Maybe someone here has some advice or has had something similar.
Thanks ☺️

Mentor3 weeks agoFirst of all: when was it bought?
If you still have buyer protection, you need to open a return with the reason that the item does not match the description or is defective. The seller has to pay for the return shipping and refund you after receiving it back.

OP3 weeks agoThanks for your message. I bought it on 13/07.
Will I then automatically get a return label from eBay or do I have to wait for the seller?
Thanks

Mentor3 weeks agoEbay is not responsible for return shipping for this reason. The seller has to provide you with a label. If the seller is from abroad, they can’t provide you with a return slip and just has to transfer the money to you for it. However, this can’t be done through ebay, and you have to give them your bank or PayPal details.
