Discussion: Problems with bidding – account supposedly blocked
Summary: castormatto2011 reports an unexpected account suspension issue at eBay, justified by an alleged non-payment, even though no problems are visible in their account. petersmodellbahnstuebchen suggests that the cause may possibly lie in the sellers’ blocking settings, especially due to non-paying buyer notices. perfect-sally explains that purchase cancellations not initiated by the buyer can also lead to this. castormatto2011 states that two purchase cancellations occurred in the last 24 months, which were caused by the items being unavailable on the sellers’ side. petersmodellbahnstuebchen recommends sharing the item number to get further help from an eBay employee.
Hello dear community,
I recently tried to place a bid on an offer, and received the message that my account was suspended due to non-payment. When I go to resolve problems, Ebay says there are no problems. I’m confused, since up until now I’ve always been able to bid without any issues. Has anyone here had similar experiences? How did you deal with such situations, and are there any specific steps you would recommend to solve the problem?
I look forward to your tips and experiences!
Best regards,
Castormatto2011

MentorJul 15, 2026 at 10:13 AMHello @castormatto2011
Is this about a specific item on which you can’t bid?
You could write to the seller and ask them to manually remove you from the blocked list.
I haven’t noticed anything in your account that would suggest a bidding restriction.
Thanks for the tag @petersmodellbahnstuebchen
Kind regards
Samantha

MentorJul 15, 2026 at 9:17 AMHi @castormatto2011
the reason for the block is probably not eBay, but the seller's block settings.
Either he put you on the list of blocked buyers, or you have some non-payment notices, which also lead to a block with many sellers. Your text clearly points to the 2nd point.

OPJul 15, 2026 at 9:24 AMHello Peter,
since I've always paid for everything, and even still have credit, I don't understand that.
There are also no outstanding payments in my account.
On 03/07/2026, I made my last purchase, power supply, everything was paid for, and it was also delivered.
Bidding no longer works with this provider either.

MentorJul 15, 2026 at 9:28 AMIt doesn't matter whether you have credit or not, and it also doesn't matter that you were even able to buy and pay for your last purchase.
The message "due to non-payment" suggests that you have not paid for at least 2 items in the last 12 months or that you are at fault for 2 abandoned purchases.
If that's the case, that's not coming from eBay, but from the sellers' settings.

OPJul 15, 2026 at 9:35 AMI have had 2 purchase cancellations in my list over the last 24 months, neither initiated by me.
Both " device no longer available"

Hi Michael,
Please give the item number once. Then maybe dear @samantha@ebay can figure out why bidding is hanging up for you. Thanks Samantha ❤️.
You may receive her reply directly by message for data protection reasons.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea

OPJul 15, 2026 at 10:13 AMHello Peter,
I called Ebay, the account is completely clean, the employee also can't understand the suspension, now she needs screenshots to get the tech department to look into the problem.
It doesn't work in any browser, and not on the 2nd PC either
Many thanks,
Michael
