Hello, I’ve never been 'here' before...
I contacted a seller to ask whether there is a German user manual, and whether he could send it to me by email.
The reply came quickly, and he said eBay had hidden my email address...
So my question is - what’s wrong with giving him my email address???

Sellers get an alternative email address for the buyers, but it is only displayed for a limited time
normally you can also find the instructions somewhere on the internet, have you already used Google, Bing + Co.?

I also asked the seller further questions about the product.
I wouldn't have any problem giving him my email address; it's the same one I use for eBay too...

Mentor9 months agoHello @6212christine that's just how eBay has intended it: communication via "Ask the seller" runs through eBay's messaging system.
Before a purchase, exchanging email addresses is not allowed anyway.

just one more addition to that.
Every seller actually receives an encrypted email address.
This is visible to the seller in the details of the purchase.
With this email address, he can also write to you using his email program and, for example, attach a PDF. The email then goes through eBay and is forwarded to you.
Many sellers do it this way when they send invoices to customers as PDFs.
Or, for example, when shipping notifications are sent by the shipping provider.
However, there is still the possibility that eBay may block attachments if abuse is suspected, since the message apparently runs through a filter.
So it should work that way too. Maybe your seller just doesn’t know that.
