Hello everyone,I bought a defective Canon camera for €475. My plan was to have it repaired later by a specialist and then use it myself.After the camera arrived, I sent a photo of the fault to a camera technician and asked about the approximate repair costs. I was then informed that the lens apparently does not fit this camera and may come from a different model.I then submitted a return request and raised the issue of the lens with the seller. The seller explained that the lens may already have been incorrectly installed at the factory. However, I couldn’t find any evidence of that myself, and I also couldn’t find any comparable camera.I then took a closer look at the camera. I noticed that all the screws showed clear signs of previous disassembly. After I pointed this out to the seller, he told me that he had opened the camera himself because he had tried to repair it. However, this was not mentioned in the item description.Since the camera was opened by the seller himself and not by a specialist, I do not know what work was actually carried out. I therefore also cannot assess whether other parts inside were altered, replaced, or possibly removed.That is exactly why I wanted to return the camera.I submitted a return request, but eBay ruled in favor of the seller because the description said that the camera was “defective”.Now I’m wondering whether I really have no options left. Does “defective” actually mean that parts can be replaced or removed at will without that needing to be mentioned?I just want to return the camera and get my money back.Thanks in advance for any help.
