eBay PLUS and returns
Summary: rembfor0 is having trouble returning an item he bought. Although the seller accepted the return, rembfor0 has to cover the shipping costs himself, which total €18. He then started a trial period for eBay PLUS to benefit from free returns, but can’t find the free return labels. voli-maus explains that eBay PLUS only applies after subscribing and making a new purchase, and that the buyer has to pay the shipping costs if an item is returned under the right of withdrawal.
Hello - I ordered an item that I want to return. The seller accepted the return request, but I have to cover the costs myself. The cost of the eBay return label (about €6) is to be deducted from my refund for the item cost. I took the package to Hermes and was told I have to pay another €12 delivery fee there (the item unfortunately needs a larger box), since the package goes as "private" - so €18 in total. Unfortunately, the seller is also not willing to compromise.
As a result, I started the trial period for eBay PLUS, since apparently you can return items there free of charge. However, I can't find the free return labels, which the chat bot says should be under "My purchases".
I have read all the help articles on the topic and unfortunately I can't make sense of what I should do now. Can someone tell me whether the €18 will be refunded to me after I drop off the package at Hermes?
Or do I have to resign myself to the outrageous delivery fees?
I would appreciate any help!

Mentor3 weeks agoHi @rembfor0
am I understanding correctly that you only signed up for Ebay-Plus after buying and receiving the item?
Whether it’s a trial or a regular subscription, it only applies to purchases made after signing up.
Best regards from the Baltic Sea

Mentor3 weeks agoHello @rembfor0 ,
did you complain about the purchase or cancel it?
Ebay Plus only applies after you have subscribed to eBay Plus and then buy something.
And if you don't like an item and cancel it, then you pay the shipping costs.
