I have been a private Ebay customer for over 20 years and had around 1700 euros in sales in 2025. Now various coins and collectible items were put up for sale in January 2026. So far, Ebay has paid out over 400 euros to my bank account without any problems because of this. On 23 and 24/01/2026, items worth over 4000 euros were sold, valuables that had been in my private possession for many years. For data protection reasons, I will not provide any further details. Just this much: for precious metals, after a holding period of more than 12 months, no tax is due on gains. Since the fiscal year has only just begun, that is irrelevant anyway. In fact, as of last night, 24/01/2025, my payouts were being withheld in order to verify my account details. Because the linked account cannot be assigned to a direct bank, I can only carry out the verification (the notification of two-cent amounts as a deposit from Ebay into that very account) at the earliest on Monday. In my experience, the release then takes some more time - and the transfer also takes a day or two. As a result, this step delays the payout of several thousand euros by several days, supposedly "to ensure security". A call to Ebay support today was unsuccessful due to the lack of expertise of the two employees called in to help. A request to involve a competent employee or supervisor ended in a looped response - this with the supervisor of the first employee. In short - Ebay is working with four-figure amounts that do not belong to them. This cannot be lawful; moreover, there was nothing to criticize about my account or the settings.I have 100% positive feedback.My service status therefore also gives no reason for complaint.I will not accept this interference with my property.None of the employees could or would give me a clear reason for this behavior at Ebay.As the owner of the account, I have no means of controlling payouts.That is clearly patronizing, and it will have consequences.Unfortunately, I have so far not been able to make any progress with the IBMS - Ebay's Internal Complaint Management system.Therefore, I hope for further help here.Kind regards J.M.
