Hello, unfortunately I seem to be too stupid to search through the posts, so I’d like to apologize right away if such a thread already exists...
I like to ship my items - and exclusively - as registered mail with proof of delivery. There used to be this function. It’s supposed to still be there now, but I פשוט just can’t find it. I’m looking through the shipping options and basically I can only choose the letter size, or whether it’s a letter or a parcel. Is there a trick for that? Or is that not possible with auctions? It would be nice if that were possible again :)

OP2 weeks agoHello, first of all thanks for your efforts. I’m afraid I explained myself badly, sorry.
So, when I list an item and the buyers are supposed to pay postage, I used to be able to select "registered mail" straight away in the shipping options, and eBay would then calculate the correct postage for me when I listed it. The advantage was that it said right at the top of the listing that the item would be sent as registered mail. At the moment I’m just making do with "other" and calculating the correct postage.
It’s just that most buyers don’t even look in the description, where I explicitly point it out again. Then I get questions like "Why is the postage so high? A letter only costs ..."
I don’t use the shipping label function at all as a private seller, it’s not worth it for the small items and prices at all.. there’s nothing left in the end :) I always frank it myself. And I always enter the tracking number too...

Mentor2 weeks agoMaybe that just isn’t offered anymore when selecting because you can’t frank a registered mail item through eBay. So much keeps changing and you’re never informed.
I only frank outside as well, if only because eBay forces me to pay with credit and there are no proper invoices for it.

Mentor2 weeks agoA direct postage option for registered mail (as an additional service for the letter) is usually not directly selectable as a combo product via eBay’s integrated shipping label functions or the eBay Internet stamp. For letters, eBay only offers a very limited choice of postage options. [1]
Alternatives for sending registered mail
External online postage: Use Deutsche Post Online Franking to book and print the letter postage plus the registered mail option. [1, 2]
Manual stickers: Buy physical registered mail barcodes (e.g. at the branch or as a roll) and combine them with a stamp bought via eBay or a regular stamp.
Store tracking number: Manually enter the tracking number you received after frankering in the transaction details on eBay so the buyer and eBay can see the status.

Quite possible that eBay doesn’t offer the shipping method. I don’t know, since I don’t use the shipping option via eBay.
In any case, you can add registered mail directly with Deutsche Post.
