Receiving a package from abroad

maybe you can help me out;
I recently ordered several books from the USA, which are meant as gifts.
The seller sent me a FedEx tracking number one day after payment was received, and then some time later marked the books as shipped, without entering the tracking number provided to me there, which let me know that he had not used the sales/shipping system.
I know not everyone does that, but for somewhat more expensive items I do expect proper handling, especially since the seller is not a newbie.
I already messaged him that there have been no more updates for the package since FedEx delivered it in Glendale Heights.
Unfortunately, the seller is rather sparing with replies, but said that would be changed soon and that ebay would provide an update on its own.
Sorry, but huh? How, if ebay has zero information?
I don't want to involve ebay right away and -as far as I remember- I can also open a case via Paypal for up to 40 days? so that should work.
Could someone give me advice or know what might be going on?

Mentor1 month agoIf you involve PayPal, then eBay is out and can no longer step in to help.
And it has already been reported here several times that in Glendale Heights it often takes longer or a long time.
As written, you should wait for the delivery period to end before taking action.

I've never had a delay with Glendale.
I just want to keep Paypal as an option, as a last resort.

If you have a Fedex number, can you check on their site where the shipment is?
If the books don't arrive, you can contact eBay after the specified delivery time has passed. With PayPal, you have 180 days of buyer protection.
But for the moment, I'd say keep calm. It'll work out.

yes, I have a FedEx number that tells me the package was delivered. In Glendale Heights, IL, not in good ol´Germany. And nothing has happened since then.
Alright, then I’ll wait out the delivery period.
