I myself do not comply with such a request from a buyer: the item is marked as unpaid 4 days after purchase, and the buyer, who had not paid, ends up on the bidder block list.
And why do you list items that you then don't want to sell after all?
And I think you should urgently look into whether you're really selling privately as stated!
Currently 296 active listings, of which 92 are new goods? That's definitely not private and could get expensive!
You typically act as an entrepreneur or commercially if you:
buy items in order to resell them
sell items that you have made for resale
regularly sell large quantities of items
sell similar goods, especially new goods, over a longer period of time
frequently sell new items that you did not acquire for your own use
According to case law, the following are indications of commercial activity:
operating an eBay shop
number of current sales: if many items are constantly sold over a longer period of time, it is usually a commercial seller
gradual sale of a private collection over many years
type of items sold (new or used goods, value): the sale of several similar navigation devices was classified as proof of commercial activity – as was the offer of 250 batteries in various sizes with reference to the availability of larger quantities.
a website or the use of advertising descriptions that make a professional impression
Note: We regularly review the trading activity of our sellers and may ask them to mark their eBay account as a business account. You should also expect to be warned at your expense by competitors or consumer protection associations and to face legal action for injunctive relief.
I just buy way too many things, then never wear them and they end up still in the closet with the tag on. Eventually, when I don't have any space left, I sell them, sometimes only years later.
Just imagine for a moment that there are private sellers or ones pretending to be private. They don't have to accept any consumer rights at all, no returns, etc. And they sell for free and take advantage of that too.
And then there are real commercial sellers who have to offer all consumer rights, including returns, and they pay listing fees and sales fees for every cent. Do you consider that fair? I don't, and it's no wonder that the commercial sellers aren't particularly pleased about it. I hope that eBay will gradually remove these supposedly private sellers from circulation and that other authorities will also take an interest and act against it!
Of course that wouldn't be fair. But I'm an honest person through and through. If I were to do that commercially, I would also register it. That's what I expect from everyone else too.
And about my case… in this case here, I'm the buyer. Item has to be picked up, I wrecked my car, so pickup is off the table now, which is why I wanted to cancel the sale. The item also easily fits in a large package…

OP1 month agoI am the buyer. I wanted to cancel. The seller rejected it. Now he wants to cancel after all.

OP1 month agoI’d have to pick up the item, but I don’t have the chance to anymore now, since the car is wrecked…

Everything private only.

Mentor1 month agoYeah, yeah, everything private! Let’s see how much longer this goes on with the new goods and the supposedly private sale!

if pickup was agreed, then it has to be picked up.
If the seller now ships it, he has to wait up to 30 days for his money, since he doesn’t have a pickup code,
