EU small business regulation on eBay – how do I enter it correctly?
Summary: margobam0, an Austrian small business owner, is seeking advice on properly configuring tax settings on eBay for cross-border sales within the EU. They have a special EU small business exemption for Germany and need guidance on how to register this with eBay, particularly regarding their Austrian VAT ID and the OSS confirmation feature. They are unsure how to associate their exemption (-EX) with their eBay account to reflect their status accurately.
Hello everyone,
I’m an Austrian small business owner and use the cross-border EU small business scheme. My small business exemption for Germany has already been accepted and I received a corresponding EU small business ID with “-EX” for it.
I sell to private customers via eBay.de and eBay.at. The goods are stored in a warehouse in Germany and are shipped from there to German customers.
Now I’ve seen in eBay under the VAT settings that I can enter a VAT ID/UID number. But there I can only select “Austria” once and enter my normal Austrian UID.
My question:
How can I tell eBay that I’m using the EU small business exemption in Germany? Is there a way on eBay to store the EU small business ID (-EX) or confirm it in some other way?
And do I need to tick the “OSS confirmation” box for the stored Austrian VAT ID if I’m actually not using OSS?
Thanks!
