Hello everyone,
I sold original Valentino shoes with the box (I did not ship the item box-in-box). Now a case has been opened on the grounds that the shoes are worthless without the box, and the money is being claimed back. The item was verified as original. I really think it’s cheeky to open a case over a box and demand your money back. Has anyone had something like this before? The case has not yet been processed and has been postponed until 07/10 for the final decision.

if it says "with box," you can assume that it arrives undamaged, especially since branded items (and of course others too) do have a higher value if the box is damaged or completely missing
you also wrote "The item was verified as original" ...
Did you send this to the authenticity verifier? if so, I'm surprised you didn't get it back, since normally everything that is offered has to match the description - and that wouldn't be the case with a shoe box with an address label on it

OP5 days agoYes, it was sent for authenticity verification. It was just a white box, so nothing special. To then rate the shoes as worthless, I think is a bit harsh. But hey, I learned something new again, thanks for your comments!

if an item is offered with the original box, it should also be shipped that way, naturally repackaged.
There are also collectors for whom the original box is important.
If the buyer has opened a case, send him a return label, otherwise you’ll be out of both money and goods.

Hi Astrid,
I just took a look at item 128065385255. The box is only white, but it has the original label on the side and the item description says:
Comes with box and dust bag, without invoice.
If you don’t send the buyer a return label within the set deadline, Ebay will most likely refund the buyer; that’s called buyer protection.
Then you’ll be out the money and the goods, and you’ll also get a defect on your account.
