Incorrect tracking number provided by seller - Need help with buyer protection!
Summary: yakugermany reported a problem with an eBay order in which the wrong tracking number was provided. Despite the appeal, eBay Buyer Protection initially ruled in favor of the seller. mia@ebay, an eBay employee, then reviewed the tracking information and could not find a valid proof of delivery. yakugermany's appeal was accepted and a refund was promised.
Hello everyone,
I’m hoping for your support or any advice on how I can proceed in the following situation:
I bought a vacuum cleaner on eBay
Item number: 198318713529
Order number: 07-14700-84158
The seller marked the item as shipped and added a tracking number. However, it seems that this does not belong to my order.
Problem description:
When I check the tracking number with DHL and enter my postal code for the detailed view, it is not accepted.
This is a clear indication that the parcel was not addressed to my address.
Accordingly, the shipment never arrived at my place.
I then opened eBay Buyer Protection. Unfortunately, the case was decided in favor of the seller. In my view, this is an automated decision based solely on a “delivered tracking number,” without checking the plausibility (e.g. postcode match).
I have now filed an appeal, but I don’t want to do anything wrong. A screenshot of the tracking is attached to the case. So my questions to you are:
Has anyone had a similar case with incorrect tracking information?
How can I best get an eBay employee to manually review the case?
Are there any specific pieces of evidence or wording that make the appeal more likely to succeed?
I’d be very grateful for any helpful advice!

When checking the shipment tracking, I also could not find a valid proof of delivery. For this reason, I processed and accepted your appeal. You will receive a full refund for your purchase within the next few days.
