False blocking by bot: Reusable products (with certificate) classified as single-use plastic
Summary: verpackungen2005 reports a problem with their business eBay seller account, where reusable products are being incorrectly classified as single-use plastic and blocked. They have already submitted the required certificates, but the automatic filters continue to block their listings. miriam@ebay from eBay is reviewing the matter internally, but the affected items remain classified as prohibited under eBay policy. Despite several reviews, eBay confirms its original decision, as the items are still classified as single-use plastic.
Hello dear eBay team and moderators,
I’m reaching out to the community team because the regular customer service and complaints department unfortunately haven’t been responding to my inquiries for quite some time, and the issue is urgent.
Our business seller account is affected by recurring, incorrect suspensions by the system. Items that are verifiably reusable products and have all the necessary certificates are constantly being automatically classified by the bot as single-use plastic products (EU directive / SUPD) and deleted.
We have already proven this several times, and the items were also manually reactivated in the past. Unfortunately, the filter is now triggering again and wrongly blocking our listings.
Since we’re not getting anywhere this way, I’m asking an eBay employee here for support or for this to be forwarded to the responsible specialist department (Safety Team) so that these listings can be reviewed permanently and removed from the incorrect classification. I’d be happy to provide all relevant certificates and proof via direct message.

Hello @verpackungen2005 - we have sent the item numbers mentioned back into internal review once again and understand your view. However, the items also fall under our policy on single-use plastic products and are not permitted on our site.
Kind regards
Miriam

OP2 weeks agoThank you very much for your response.
Were the items classified accordingly despite the available certificates regarding their reusability?
miriam@ebay
Yes, @verpackungen2005 , the items were rechecked taking the mentioned certificates into account. However, the result of the internal review remains unchanged: according to our policy on single-use plastic products, the items mentioned fall under the prohibited offers on eBay. Therefore, we cannot change our original decision.
Kind regards
Miriam

Hello @verpackungen2005 - could you please also tell me the specific item numbers your objection refers to?
Offers such as 1200 x disposable drinking cups (item number 204408821624) do not count as "certified reusable products" for us and clearly violate our policy on single-use plastic products.
Best regards

Hello @verpackungen2005 and thanks for describing your situation! Whether a correct or incorrect decision was made here is currently being reviewed internally. As soon as there are updates, we’ll get back to you.
In general, our policy states that single-use plastic products not allowed on eBay are items that are used only once or for a short period of time before being thrown away.
Thanks for the tag-in, @petersmodellbahnstuebchen - I’m taking over here for @samantha@ebay .
Best regards
