Summary: tegucicalpa shared an experience of ordering an e-bike through eBay and encountering issues with its delivery. They received a notification indicating the item had been delivered to a different address and a different name. Despite several attempts to resolve the issue with FedEx, eBay, and PayPal, they felt dissatisfied as no solution was found. tegucicalpa has since involved legal counsel and expressed disappointment with both eBay and PayPal. They seek advice or shared experiences from others who might have faced similar issues.
Hello.
On 10/03/26 I ordered an ebike on ebay. After that, I got a message from the seller saying I would still receive a gift. On 17/03 I was sent a bicycle bell. Worth maybe one euro. I threw it away right away. After that I contacted the seller and asked about my bike. He said I had already received the bike on 13/03. I denied receiving it and asked for the supposed proof of delivery. The Fedex receipt showed a different address and a different name. I then drove to Fedex to clear things up. The dispatcher was friendly, printed out a daily log for me, and called the subcontractor. He came and said he would go to this recipient later and call me. After 3 hours I was told the supposed recipient did not have the bike. At that point it was clear to me something was not right.
I looked up this address on the internet and in the navigation system and found that this street does not exist. After that I went back to Fedex. They said they couldn't help me and I should contact the main company. When I asked where the main company was located, they told me they didn't know. Like in everyday life, many people try to make a fool out of you. I then looked up the address on the internet and contacted the Fedex headquarters. At the same time I also contacted ebay and my payment provider PayPal. Ebay closed my inquiry because I had contacted PayPal, and PayPal told me I had received the bike.
After I described the situation, PayPal told me I should contact the consumer advice center. What happened to the supposed buyer protection? Fedex told me they would like to reimburse me about 55% of the purchase price, because apparently no value was stated on the waybill. Now 4 months have passed since the sale and I still have no money and nobody cares. However, I have meanwhile filed complaints against Fedex, the parcel delivery driver, and the supposed wrong recipient, and I have also involved a lawyer. I am disappointed with both ebay and PayPal and after this matter is resolved I will probably unsubscribe from both. However, I will also present this matter on social networks. If I do not get any money for any reason, I will file a payment order against Fedex even though I have a contract with engwe and they must either send me the money or a new bicycle.
Maybe someone has had a similar experience.

Mentor3 weeks agohey @tegucicalpa either buyer protection via eBay or via the payment service provider, you can’t do both, and that’s why eBay closed the case.

OP3 weeks agoI didn't know that. The saying goes that ignorance does not protect you from punishment. But if I had gotten the info beforehand, I would have known that. However, since I have been buying many things on eBay for years and always only received positive ratings, I would have been happy if eBay had told me to, for example, close the inquiry with PayPal so that eBay could become active again. Besides, I bought the wheel through eBay and not through PayPal. What do you think?

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedThat’s not how it works! As soon as the payment provider gets involved, eBay is out of it, and it wouldn’t help either if you closed the case with PayPal, because cases closed on eBay cannot be reopened!
And if you buy, of course you get positive feedback, because it’s not possible any other way! Buyers can only be rated positively.
And you paid via PayPal and opened a case there, there’s no getting around that.
You’ve been registered on eBay since 2002, you should really have picked up on something like this by now!
And you shouldn’t see this as a punishment, more as the logical consequence of your own approach.

OP3 weeks agoHello perfect -sally . The name says it all . If you automatically always get positive feedback , I wonder why feedback even exists . So the whole thing is just smoke and mirrors . No matter whether I have been a member since 2002 , I still don't need to know it , if I haven't had this case yet .
I have already noticed that ebay is only interested in collecting the money .

Mentor3 weeks agoHey @tegucicalpa
You’ve already been on eBay for quite a while and should already be familiar with

or the

should have dealt with it. Just a well-meant tip for the future.
Besides, there are enough cases here in the forum that deal with exactly this issue.

Mentor3 weeks agoDid PayPal contact you by phone? They must be able to see that it was shipped to a completely different address than yours.

OP3 weeks agoOf course. PayPal got the proof of delivery and all the information . That's why I'm so upset .
