Question - how do I record invoices as a sales agent
Summary: pruehsbox asks the community for advice on the correct accounting treatment of sales they make as a commercial seller on eBay, especially regarding the monthly invoices to a relative. They mention that they can’t afford to hire a tax advisor because of the initial costs. However, bootyooty and voli-maus strongly recommend getting professional advice and point out legal requirements such as the VAT identification number. pruehsbox thanks them and now intends to consult a tax advisor. perfect-sally warns that selling without a proper VAT ID could lead to restrictions.
Hello,
I have a question for the community.
Specifically, I have recently been selling used goods on eBay as a commercial seller.
Among them are, in part, items that I received from my aunt to sell, from my late uncle.
We have an agreement that I get X % of the sale price.
My question now is how I should record this correctly in Lexware.
How do I correctly record the monthly settlements to my aunt? Which account do I use?
Do I have to document goods received and goods issued? If so, how do I do that correctly?
I would be very grateful for any answers, because I’m just starting with eBay and still know practically nothing. I can’t really afford a tax advisor yet.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
pruehsbox

OP4 days agoThanks for the info, bootyyooty. I'll follow your advice and bring in a tax advisor/accountant.
@voli-maus Thanks for the advice, but the VAT ID has already been applied for.

Mentor4 days agoYes, and these must be provided before selling/posting the listing, as well as the legal information, @pruehsbox .
Here you can get help, it's free.
A lawyer for a cease-and-desist letter is expensive.
I wish you lots of luck.

Mentor4 days ago@pruehsbox without a VAT ID, you actually aren't allowed to sell on eBay at all. As soon as eBay notices, your account will be restricted!

Mentor4 days agoHello,
the best thing is to end your offers and really get some advice.
That was already written to you by bootyooty.
You don't even have a VAT identification number.

Mentor4 days agoHello @pruehsbox but I think it’s better to get yourself a tax advisor, because only they can probably tell you how what where is booked.
There are hardly any sales agents left, and there’s also nobody here in the community who can give you tax advice.
