Warranty or return
Summary: svz28 needs support with a faulty dashcam purchased via eBay. Despite contacting the seller, the handling is dragging on without a solution, and the case cannot be processed through eBay because the item number is allegedly not found. petersmodellbahnstuebchen informs them that the deadlines with eBay and payment providers have been missed and that only warranty claims directly against the commercial seller or a manufacturer's guarantee can still help. svz28 asks about any other possible rights against the seller.
Hello,
I urgently need help with a problem with an item I bought on eBay.
I bought a dashcam in December, but was only able to install it in my vehicle in February 2026. Unfortunately, the dashcam has not been able to be put into operation even once since the installation.
I have already been in contact with the seller for several weeks or months. Unfortunately, the processing keeps dragging on. Photos are repeatedly requested, sometimes even the same pictures several times, without any concrete solution or replacement being offered.
In addition, I can’t get any further through eBay, because the item number is supposedly not found there and I therefore
cannot process or report the case accordingly.
I would be very grateful if someone could tell me whom I can contact in this case or how I should best proceed.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Best regards

with Ebay and the payment service providers, you’ve already missed all the deadlines.
The only thing you can still try is to enforce any warranty claims against the seller outside of Ebay, provided they are acting commercially.
After that, only a possible manufacturer’s warranty applies.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea

OP1 month agoFirst of all, thank you very much for your feedback.
This is a commercial seller. As I have now had to realize, he apparently kept dragging the matter out further and further in order to ultimately avoid his responsibility.
In this case, do I have no guarantee or warranty claims?
What rights do I have against the seller?

the warranty is a voluntary service from the manufacturer; it may, but does not have to, be provided
the seller is subject to the statutory warranty - however, if they are based abroad (that's how it reads to me given the delay tactics), you probably won't be able to enforce that
