Freezer, bought and paid for with Klarna
Summary: hewi1963 reports problems with a freezer bought on eBay in October 2025, which is now broken. The seller sent a technician, but he didn’t repair anything, and another technician called by phone to discuss the issue. In the end, hewi1963 was told that a part should be sent in for testing, which is seen as a delay. petersmodellbahnstuebchen explains that the 12-month warranty from the seller is correct, but eBay’s buyer protection has already expired, so any claims have to be made outside of eBay.
We bought a freezer on Ebay in October 2025, 300 liters. Today there is a defect: it defrosts at a setting of minus 18 degrees.
Contacted the seller and he sent a technician who just looked, measured nothing, and repaired nothing.
And then said it was technically okay.
A second technician called by phone and had the problem described to him.
Wanted to consult with the seller.
That was last Thursday.
Today I contacted the seller and he writes back that a part should be sent to me for measuring.
What can I do.
For me this is just stalling.
12 months warranty lies with the seller, after that the manufacturer

Mentor1 month agoHi @hewi1963 you have to sort out your warranty claims directly with the seller, ebay can’t do anything about that.
PS. The manufacturer’s warranty is voluntary and subject to its terms.
By the way, the warranty period is 2 years for new goods, but after 12 months (and you’re still within that period) you have to prove that the defect existed from the start.
Don’t let them brush you off or fob you off with a "goodwill repair"; if necessary, go to your consumer advice center in your state and get advice.

Mentor1 month agoHi @hewi1963 ,
you are completely right about the 12 months warranty from the seller.
But eBay is out of the picture with buyer protection after 30 days. The deadlines with the payment providers have also expired.
Unfortunately, you will have to enforce your warranty claims outside of eBay.
Best regards from the Baltic Sea
