Has anyone had experience with a permanent eBay seller ban? Is there any chance of getting it lifted?
Summary: sanitaerheld reports that their eBay seller account was permanently suspended and that they have not received any clear explanations from eBay. They recently registered a business and submitted all the necessary documents, yet the suspension remains in place and funds are being withheld. perfect-sally and voli-maus say that permanent suspensions are usually final. sanitaerheld has spoken with a lawyer and is hoping for a review. eBay staff in the discussion promise a further review, but the decision remains unchanged. sanitaerheld is considering legal action if no solution is found.
Hello everyone,
I hope that someone here has already had similar experiences and can give me some advice.
My eBay seller account has now been permanently suspended from selling. I have not yet received a specific reason stating exactly which violation is supposed to have occurred.
About my case:
I recently registered a business in order to continue my selling properly and commercially.
I submitted all documents requested by eBay (invoices, tracking information, etc.).
The orders were shipped and, for the most part, have already been delivered.
I have always handled buyer inquiries and issues promptly.
Even so, my account was permanently restricted and my payouts are being withheld.
My questions for you:
Has anyone ever had a permanent suspension on eBay successfully lifted?
Is there a way to get a new review or file an appeal?
Has anyone had experience with a lawyer or other steps that helped?
How long did it take in your case before the withheld funds were paid out?
I’d be very grateful for any experience reports or tips. Thanks in advance!

OP2 weeks agoUpdate on my eBay case
Hello everyone,
I want to give you an update on my case.
After I proved to eBay that the alleged defects in my sales history were not caused by me, but by the respective shipping providers, I received an email stating that my account should be reactivated.
Nevertheless, my account is still suspended to this day.
When asked, eBay only says that for security reasons they cannot tell me why my account was restricted or suspended. In my view, this explanation is not understandable, especially since a support employee had previously apparently told me by mistake that the restriction was related to my sales history or the defects recorded there.
However, I was able to clearly disprove exactly these points. Nevertheless, the suspension remains in place.
From my point of view, this approach violates the transparency obligations applicable in Europe toward users of online platforms. Instead of a comprehensible explanation, I only receive general standard replies.
What is especially burdensome is that, to the best of my knowledge, eBay is currently withholding around €50,000 in funds. I have therefore now filed one last out-of-court objection. If eBay still does not respond, I will probably have to take legal action and also hire a lawyer.
For years, I was a seller with exclusively positive feedback and always tried to resolve problems in a customer-oriented way.
Another point I find very problematic: while the account restriction was in place, I asked support how I should handle the still-open orders if eBay was simultaneously withholding my payout and I therefore could not process the orders properly. If I remember correctly, a support employee advised me to simply ignore the customers. There are records of this conversation.
I still hope for an out-of-court solution. However, if eBay continues not to respond appropriately, we will make the entire matter public — including the existing documents and records.
Thank you very much to everyone who has followed and supported my case so far. I’ll keep you posted.

Hello @sanitaerheld - we have now carefully reviewed your case again and are coming to no different conclusion. I understand that this feedback is disappointing. For security reasons, we will not explain the background of the decision in more detail, but often the overall picture of a seller account plays a role. This includes, among other things, the quality and traceability of the submitted evidence, the completeness of the stored company data, as well as the previous sales history and account performance.
We have shared all available information on this topic and will not comment further on it. Thank you for your understanding.
Kind regards
Miriam

OP3 weeks agoThanks first for the reply, but they are actually obliged to do so under Art. 17 Digital Services Act (DSA) – Regulation (EU) 2022/2065
and Art. 4 of the P2B Regulation (EU) 2019/1150 but they can't help that; everything else will be clarified in court. Many thanks for your help 🙏

Hello @sanitaerheld - we are sending your eBay account back into review now and will get back to you once we have received a response.
Thanks for the tag-in, @petersmodellbahnstuebchen !

OP3 weeks agoSo far I haven’t really gotten any proper feedback, just today a badly translated message from a staff member with standard statements, but nothing that could be linked to my suspension. If that doesn’t change, I’ll unfortunately be forced to get a lawyer involved against eBay, which is actually hard for me because I also don’t want to have to do without working with eBay in the future.

OPJul 17, 2026 at 7:51 AMUpdate on my case:
By now, eBay has given me a reason for the suspension of my account. This reason is demonstrably not comprehensible to me and, from my point of view, does not correspond to the actual facts. For the items I sold, there are corresponding invoices or proof of purchase showing their origin. In addition, I have received exclusively positive feedback for my sales.
It is very important to me to resolve this matter directly and out of court with eBay. I do not want to burden either eBay or myself with unnecessary legal or court proceedings. However, if no appropriate solution is found, I will review my legal options and, if necessary, pursue them through a lawyer.
I am convinced of my legal position and therefore urgently ask that my case be reviewed again in full and individually by the responsible specialist department, instead of merely referring to the previous decision.
@alena@ebay @selina_b@ebay since you have already commented on my case, I would be very grateful if you could arrange another internal review or forward my case to the responsible department. Please then get in touch with me directly so that we can find a factual, out-of-court solution together.
I am ready at any time to provide the available invoices and proof of purchase for review and very much hope that the matter can be clarified promptly in this way.

MentorJul 17, 2026 at 8:48 AMHi @sanitaerheld
the two employees you marked are not available to the community today.
Maybe the lovely @melina@ebay or @miriam@ebay can let you know whether a recheck is possible or whether the case has been finally closed on Ebay's side.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea

MentorJul 16, 2026 at 11:02 AM · EditedHello @sanitaerheld , we have reviewed your case internally once again. Our decision remains unchanged. Please refer to the information in the email you received from us. In addition, we would like to correct the impression that the still outstanding VAT identification number is the decisive reason for the account suspension. It is still an open issue, but the decisive factor for our decision was the results of our overall review. The documents you submitted also raised concerns. We cannot provide any details about the specifics.
If an appeal against the account suspension is unsuccessful, open payouts are generally released after the relevant period has expired. This can take up to 190 days, and in individual cases even longer. If your payouts are currently not set to daily payouts, please change this accordingly.
Best regards

OPJul 16, 2026 at 11:48 AM · EditedHello,
Thank you very much for your reply.
Honestly, I don’t understand which documents or circumstances are supposed to have raised concerns in your overall review. In all previous emails, I was only asked to provide the tracking numbers or proof of delivery. I have fully submitted these. By now, all orders have also been successfully delivered to the buyers.
In addition, I submitted the purchase invoices for the goods, which were also accepted by eBay. From my point of view, I have provided all the proof you requested in full and to the best of my knowledge and belief. Therefore, unfortunately, I cannot understand what the concerns mentioned refer to.
The information that I may have to wait up to 190 days to receive my payout puts me in a very difficult position. This is my entire invested capital, which I used to build up my business. Such a long hold creates significant problems for me both financially and personally.
I would also like to avoid the cost of a lawyer, as I am convinced that I have acted honestly and transparently at all times. Almost exclusively positive feedback from my buyers, in my view, confirms that I have provided my customers with reliable service.
I would very much like to continue working with eBay long term, and therefore I hope that my case can be reviewed again, or at least that I am told more specifically what concerns exist and whether I can submit any further documents to address them.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your reply.
Kind regards

OPJul 15, 2026 at 6:08 PM@selina_b@ebay @voli-maus I’ve now received a message with the reason for the suspension; it’s about the VAT ID. I hope I have it by Tuesday, as I was told by the tax office, and that the account will then be unlocked again as quickly as possible. Thanks for your efforts. Unfortunately I’m a bit panicked and impatient since I’ve already been restricted for over a week. Thank you very much 🙏

MentorJul 15, 2026 at 6:28 PMThen it definitely wasn't a permanent ban that was announced! Other accounts have already been blocked until the details were entered correctly and then unlocked.
That has nothing to do with permanent. But now you can see the light at the end of the tunnel again :)

MentorJul 15, 2026 at 5:55 PM@selina_b@ebay will take a look at it.

MentorJul 15, 2026 at 2:23 PMPlease don't just tag any employees at random! That won't do anything, and Mia isn't present either!
An employee has already been tagged, and I'm sure she won't be able to give you a positive answer either.
Permanent means permanent.

OPJul 15, 2026 at 2:34 PMThank you very much for your reply. I’m aware that “permanent” in most cases also means permanent. However, I have already spoken with a lawyer who explained to me that even automatic suspensions can be reviewed under certain circumstances and, if necessary, lifted again.
Unfortunately, for me it’s not just about the eBay account itself, but also about around €55,000 that are currently being withheld. That is my entire savings, which I invested in my newly founded company and in inventory. That’s why I’m understandably very nervous and dependent on a timely payout.
So I’m simply hoping that my case will be reviewed individually once again. Sadly, there’s not much more I can do at the moment. Still, thanks for your assessment.

MentorJul 15, 2026 at 1:02 PM · EditedHello @sanitaerheld ,
there really isn't any reason stated why you were blocked?
You don't seem to have fulfilled your legal obligations, e.g. no VAT ID no WRB.
The lovely @selinab@ebay will be able to tell you why you were blocked.
sanitaerheld
OPJul 15, 2026 at 1:15 PMYes, I registered my business when I started with eBay and I still hadn’t received a VAT ID, but I gave my details and told eBay that it was currently being processed at the Federal Central Tax Office.

MentorJul 15, 2026 at 2:47 PMHello @sanitaerheld ,
you should have only listed and sold once everything was legally compliant and your information was complete.
And suspension means that you are suspended as a person.
That sounds harsh and it is harsh.
@selinab@ebay may reply to you internally, or someone from Ebay ?

you won’t have any luck there. permanently on eBay means final, and that’s the end of it.
