How to report safety hazard
Purchased a baby camera with monitor now have a safety hazard on my hands, lithium ion battery is swollen and seller is no longer active. Who do I contact and how to report the issue? Manufacturer is denying any responsibility for this hazardous item and from what I can see there is still plenty of baby cameras of this manufacturer being sold on eBay today.

OPSep 17, 2026 at 8:25 PM@vera@ebay with all due respect. I am not talking about standard situation of warranty, customer protection or guarantee. EU product-safety legislation distinguishes a safety complaint from an ordinary contractual warranty claim. Consumer products supplied in the EU, including products sold online, must be safe. Relevant economic operators are expected to assess reported risks, cooperate on product-safety matters, and take appropriate corrective action where a product may be dangerous.
Therefore, my question is how and where do I report to eBay that a potentially life threatening items are sold on the platform?
Also to be noted the baby monitor clearly says on display 3 years warranty, but as the seller is no longer active and manufacturers says they can’t help as it was not purchased directly from them I can’t resolve my problem, but still have an obligation to inform all necessary authorities, including eBay, about health hazard that can be caused by faulty lithium ion battery in a baby monitor.
I will be also sending a report to Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (TTJA), and the EU Safety Gate system,
And for that same reason I am asking for help to identify the proper chanel to contact eBay.
Kind regards,

MentorSep 17, 2026 at 8:34 PMHi @5rakvere
if you think that the seller has violated the EU product safety guidelines, you can report the item at any time.
Then go to the purchased item, which we so far only know from the post by @vera@ebay , unfortunately not from you, and report the violation you identified there in your order.
What product safety information was shown to you in the listing?
Best regards from the Baltic Sea

·Sep 17, 2026 at 7:41 PMHello @5rakvere ,
Thank you very much for your post. If this is the item 335395435197, then the 30-day buyer protection period, as well as the warranty and guarantee, have already expired. However, I’d be happy to contact the seller for you so that we can find a solution together.
@petersmodellbahnstuebchen thank you for the tag 😊
Best regards

How long ago was the purchase? eBay buyer protection only applies up to 30 days after delivery.
Is the seller still active? If so, you can report the seller.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea
