I can't initiate the return of two defective batteries
Summary: wonne7 reports difficulties returning defective batteries that were bought a year ago via eBay. The orders are shown as 'ready for pickup,' even though they have already been picked up, and messages to the seller are failing. perfect-sally points out that after a year, a return is no longer possible through eBay and recommends contacting the seller directly via the legal notice. wonne7 plans to follow this advice and thanks them for the tip.
A year ago I bought two more expensive batteries.
These are now defective.
In my orders, the items are incorrectly shown as "ready for pickup," but they have already been picked up.
A few weeks ago I was able to report this defect to the seller directly from the order.
In response, I was asked to provide the order number (why, anyway? They should be able to see it).
That’s where I’m stuck now. I can no longer send the seller any further messages, and I can’t start the return process for the defective item anymore.
It always says "mail could not be sent."

MentorSep 8, 2026 at 2:15 PMA return after 1 year? That’s not possible, how does one even come up with that? Through eBay there’s nothing left you can do, and you have to sort that out with the seller from back then yourself.
And if it’s a commercial seller, they should have a legal notice where you can find contact details.

OPSep 8, 2026 at 2:30 PMHow one comes to that is quite simple, I take the German warranty law.
And yes, I wanted to contact the seller and that was exactly what didn't work via eBay. But I'm glad about the tip to get in touch via the legal notice. Let's see if that works.
Thank you very much

MentorSep 8, 2026 at 2:34 PMEbay is not responsible for consumer rights, though, and if the actual return period has expired, then Ebay is out too.
