I can't cancel the purchase
Summary: bohnovzki reports a problem with a sales transaction on a platform. After bohnovzki accepted a price suggestion for an item, the buyer wanted to cancel the purchase, which bohnovzki refused. Now the purchase can no longer be canceled because of an error message. perfect-sally explains that cancellation is no longer possible after the rejection, which leaves bohnovzki baffled, since it seems unfair that the buyer could refuse to pay without having to fear any consequences.
Hello, I have the following problem:
On 30/8/26, I sold an item because I accepted a price suggestion.
On 31/8, the buyer wanted to cancel, but I rejected that.
Now it’s 8/9/26 and I can’t cancel the purchase.
I get the following response from eBay when I want to cancel:
"An cancellation already exists You cannot cancel this purchase because a cancellation already exists for it. You cannot cancel this purchase because a cancellation already exists for it."
What can or must I do?

OP1 month agoThat means, as a seller, I always have to agree to a cancellation?
That can't be right.
So the buyer wants to cancel. I refuse, then he can just not pay without anything happening?
That can't be right, can it?

Mentor1 month agoSince you already responded to and rejected the requested cancellation, a cancellation is no longer possible!

Mentor1 month agoNo, nobody has to agree, so as a private seller! Next time just don’t respond at all and cancel after 4 days because of non-payment.
Yes, unfortunately that’s how it is, but nobody understands why eBay programmed it that way.
