I don't understand eBay's decision.
Summary: chriba1798 reports a defective stereo system that he sent back after the cassette deck stopped working. However, the seller claims that chriba1798 swapped out the remote control, which is why a refund was refused. Other participants, including meinehexe11 and perfect-sally, support chriba1798 and suggest contacting the payment provider directly, since eBay can no longer help. verena@ebay confirms that, because a dispute has been opened with the payment provider, eBay can take no further action.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I bought a defective stereo system and sent it back. The seller ( valesz89) made up a story about the remote control and claimed that I had swapped it. He reported the incident only to eBay customer service, but did not contact me. Unfortunately, I knew nothing about it and waited for my refund. eBay rejected the return because the seller had provided proof. I called eBay, but unfortunately no proof could be shown to me there, and the seller also did not reply to me. At the moment I have neither a stereo system nor a refund.
I do not understand eBay's decision.

Mentor1 week agoHello @chriba1798 ,
Thanks a lot for your post!
As I can see, you have already opened a dispute with your payment provider. Because of that, we unfortunately no longer have any options to take action on our side, since there is now no longer any buyer protection via eBay for this order.
I recommend that you contact your payment provider directly for further clarification.
Thanks for the tag, @meinehexe11 !
Best regards
Verena

Mentor1 week ago · EditedYou buy a DEFECTIVE stereo system and return it? For what reason? Did you think that when it arrived it would work again or that you could maybe repair it or use it for spare parts?
Sounds very strange to me.
And since you yourself offer and sold such items, that seems even stranger to me.
Buying defective devices, and if they can't be repaired opening a return for defect - for now just a guess, but time will tell in your account.

OP1 week agoI bought a working stereo system, which turned out afterward to be defective; the cassette deck didn’t work. The seller accepted the return and I sent the system back. Afterwards, the seller tells the story about the remote control to eBay — namely, that I exchanged it.

Mentor1 week agoIt would have been better if you had explained that right away in the first post. Of course that’s just not acceptable, that the seller claims something here to possibly avoid the refund or reduce it.
Unfortunately, I read that you opened a dispute with the payment provider, and that’s counterproductive for you because you can’t go down two tracks at once.
As was explained to you, eBay can’t do anything else for you now and you’ll have to resolve this only through the payment provider.

OP1 week agoNO, I bought a stereo system that was working as described in the article description, for my hobby room. When I tried the cassette deck, I found that it didn't work. I wrote to the seller right away and asked if he could help me. After trying again, it still didn't work. He eventually accepted the return. I ALWAYS pack items so that nothing can be damaged, especially since he asked me to do so as well. The seller then accused me of having broken the cassette deck. While the case was open, he then wrote to eBay that I had swapped the remote control for a defective one and that he had sent me evidence (yes, even eBay looked at our chat and he didn't send any pictures or anything like that). I am just shocked by some users. And now I'm sitting here without my money and without working goods.

Mentor1 week ago · EditedAs written, unfortunately in the meantime you have involved your payment service provider and everything is now with them. Ebay can no longer help or intervene.
When the matter is eventually resolved, you should definitely leave a rating accordingly. People need to be warned about sellers like this, but please pay attention to your wording so that the rating does not violate the guidelines and get deleted.

Mentor1 week agoHey, hey.
That naturally won't work. Either money or goods. @verena@ebay could you please take a look?
