Is waiting 30 days for money normal?
Summary: pattemann reports having sold an expensive laptop on eBay. Although the buyer confirmed receipt and that it works, the payout of the money is being withheld for 30 days, which eBay says is normal for large amounts. Customer service was unable to help, and the seller is asking whether this is legal and whether there are any ways to take action against it. The seller’s account is only three days old as well, but he still thinks the delay is pointless, since the buyer could have gotten in touch if there were any problems.
I sold a more expensive laptop on Ebay. The buyer has already received it and confirmed it is fully functional.
However, the money is now being withheld and according to ebay it won’t be paid out until 20/09 (30 days).
I have already called customer service and they couldn’t help any further. I was only told that this is normal for amounts like this and that there’s nothing you can do.
The buyer can’t confirm anywhere that he received the item and that it works, and so speed this up.
Now my question is, is that even legal and is there any way to do something about it?
My account is not even 3 days old and has several ratings from different sales. This is just ridiculous. Buyer protection or not. If something were wrong, the buyer could get in touch.

Whether or how pointless you find that is irrelevant. Ebay is the host and sets the rules. Buyer protection lasts 30 days. Whether the buyer confirms receipt or functionality is also irrelevant and is not recognized by the system as such.
