Buyer returned defective item
Summary: simbap2, a private seller, sold a motherboard on eBay that the buyer claimed was damaged. Despite having proof in the form of photos of the intact pins before shipping, simbap2 had to issue a refund due to eBay’s policies and is now disappointed with the process. perfect-sally and voli-maus point out that images can be easily manipulated and that the matter is closed at eBay once the refund has been issued. voli-maus suggests considering legal action if compensation is desired.
Hello! I’m a private seller and for the first time in several years I sold something on ebay. A motherboard.
The motherboard was shipped intact. The buyer now claims that it arrived broken, with a bent pin. Ebay has now left me with no other choice but to allow a refund.
At the same time, I reported the buyer. I can’t reach anyone at ebay, and now I’m stuck with my broken motherboard. I’m totally disappointed with ebay and this approach.
What can I do to get compensation for my broken motherboard? I took pictures of the intact pins before shipping, precisely to prevent exactly this. :'(

Mentor3 weeks agoWhat kind of compensation do you expect, @simbap2 from ebay ?
You have to enforce that yourself with all possible legal means.

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedWhy and for what do you want compensation? The buyer filed a complaint and the seller has to take it back. Even if the item was supposedly still intact with you, that doesn’t mean it was with the buyer too, see his rating.
Pictures are not proof; pictures can be manipulated. For eBay, the matter of the refund is settled.
Where would eBay end up if buyer protection kicks in and then they’re supposed to pay compensation?
Consult a lawyer and show him the pictures, then you’ll see whether it’s worth demanding compensation from the buyer.

OP3 weeks agoIt's sad that you're being cheated and then, when you look for help, you get such unfriendly replies and accusations. :'(

Mentor3 weeks agoThe responses were not unfriendly, @simbap2 .
They weren't acceptable to you?
You have plenty of options to enforce your rights.

Mentor3 weeks agoHey @simbap2
first of all, nobody here knows whether you were cheated.
Maybe the motherboard was already damaged before shipping or it happened during shipping.
How is Ebay supposed to decide here? I can't see any unfriendly replies here.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea
