Buyer abroad, but shipping to Germany
Summary: Sammlerfreundin runs a small business on eBay and is unsure whether there are any tax consequences if a buyer from Mexico purchases an item that is delivered to Berlin. The person plans to forward the item from there to Mexico. petersmodellbahnstuebchen reassures her that it’s not a problem as long as the item is shipped within Germany and what happens after that is beyond her control.
Hello,
I’ve been selling commercially on eBay for just under a year.
I’m a sole proprietor under the small business regulation. My sales figures aren’t high, and I only sell my items within Germany because I don’t know enough about the tax system when it comes to overseas sales. Now someone has bought an item from me and the delivery address is also in Germany. But the buyer’s registered address is in Mexico. The person is having the item sent to a relative in Berlin and from there the item then goes on to Mexico. Do I now need to worry about tax issues? After all, the delivery address is in Germany. What happens to the item after that isn’t in my hands.
On the invoice generated by eBay, the buyer’s registered address is also listed, which is why I’m asking.
Thanks in advance! 😊

Mentor3 weeks agoHi @sammlerfreundin
In my opinion, you can send the item to Berlin without worry.
What the Mexican buyer does with the item afterwards is his business and is no longer within your sphere of influence.
Best regards from the Baltic Sea

OP3 weeks agoGreat, then I'm relieved.
If the package were to go to a package forwarding service (proxy shopping models are meant), then that company would also take care of the taxes, right? That again has nothing to do with my delivery.
