Buyer is not responding to arrange pickup
I sold an item that can only be picked up. But the buyer isn’t responding to my attempts to contact them about pickup. What can I do now?

Mentor3 weeks agoHey @jedidja yeah, unfortunately this keeps happening over and over again.
You once had a problem like this with the clothes rack too.
I also can't explain why buyers sometimes overlook or don't read things at all; setting a deadline in the order confirmation, for example "item must be picked up within 10 or 14 days after purchase," might make sense, if only the buyers would actually read it.
Since he's already paid, I'd actually wait a bit longer to see whether he gets in touch to arrange an appointment.

Mentor3 weeks agoA few more details would already be helpful.
When was it sold?
When was it paid for?
Did you write in the listing by when it has to be picked up at the latest?

OP3 weeks agoSold 4 days ago and the buyer paid right away. The money is with ebay. No, in the listing I only wrote that it’s pickup only. How long does the buyer have?

Mentor3 weeks agoWell, 4 days really isn't the end of the world. You should always mention in the description by when it has to be picked up at the latest.
How long the buyer has is actually up to the buyer and seller; there are no guidelines for that. However, after 30 days you can no longer cancel the purchase and refund the money, so pickup should really happen sooner rather than later.
I would set a final deadline (maybe for the weekend) and then cancel the purchase and refund it.

OP3 weeks agoYes, the one with the drying rack wrote that he is almost blind and didn't see that it's pickup only
I think. Many people don't even read and now she's waiting for me to send her the item.

Mentor3 weeks agoWell, I also think a lot of it has to do with when you're on the go with your phone, whether through the app or the browser, and then just click around randomly without really reading much.
@yasmin@ebay 🪻 would it actually violate eBay rules if you already include the add-on (pickup only) in the headline?
yasmin@ebay
·3 weeks ago@bootyooty I don't know what would speak against it; I'm not aware of any rule that would rule it out.

Mentor3 weeks ago@jedidja maybe in future you could just do that for items you’re only listing for pickup. If there’s room in the headline, write (PICKUP ONLY) so it’s immediately visible — maybe that’ll help.
