Purchase cancellation with false reason
Summary: tradeperbay reports an unpleasant experience with an eBay seller who canceled a purchase that had already been paid for, supposedly because the item was damaged. In reality, according to the seller, the item was perfect, but it had been sold too cheaply. perfect-sally advises consulting a lawyer, since eBay probably won’t help. perfect-sally also asks about the specific damages and provable losses tradeperbay suffered.
A question,
An eBay seller cancelled the purchase, which had already been paid for and assigned a tracking number,
stating that it was no longer available and damaged.
The truth is in an email to me through contact: the item is perfect and there, but
it was supposedly sold too cheaply, allegedly two inherited items got mixed up,
All this after my note that the piece is very rare and should be sent via DHL!!!
I even demonstrably incurred losses to make the purchase possible.
Overall a lie and a real outrage, a false reason was put forward
to cancel the purchase.
And gone. With Klarna I would still have to wait days for my money
How do I get this item now, who pays if not my damage?
I've never had anything like this before

You are allowed to try to set all this in motion outside of eBay; ask a lawyer about what your chances are. eBay won't help and eBay doesn't care either.
A small consolation for you: if the seller canceled for the reason you mentioned, they get a defect on their account.

OPJul 13, 2026 at 11:00 AMI sold securities on Sunday to cover the insufficient account
for the Klarna direct debit for the accepted price proposal.
The Klarna direct debit etc. came shortly after, purchase completed.
The main damage was caused by this, about €100, and now I also can't
buy back because of Klarna delay.
He writes to me that he had inherited 2 binoculars, and the one that was more high-quality from his point of view
he or his wife would have photographed and listed at the cheaper, wrong price.
All lies, he only sells jerseys and other stuff.. and through my comments he was
looking for his own advantage.
The total scam,
Thanks for your inquiry,,unfortunately only a lawyer can help...eBay's AI doesn't understand the connections emails+payment process
