Purchase cancellation no longer possible after weeks, what to do?
Summary: schfachi reported problems with buying a notebook battery, where the seller failed to deliver despite payment. After more than five weeks without shipping and several excuses, schfachi threatened to cancel the purchase, but could not do so because the deadline had already passed. petersmodellbahnstuebchen pointed out that non-shipped items can only be reported within 30 days. schfachi decided to open a case with PayPal, after which the refund was issued. Another member criticized schfachi’s patience, since Ebay no longer intervenes after 30 days and only the payment provider can help.
I bought a laptop battery and paid immediately with paypal.
After more than 5 weeks, the seller still hasn’t shipped and keeps making excuses, but only when I bring it up.
Four days ago I threatened to cancel the purchase if he didn’t get in touch....he didn’t get in touch.
Now I wanted to cancel the purchase, but after this much time it’s no longer possible, I’m supposed to contact the seller (my exact kind of humor ;-) )
How do I proceed?
Have paypal get the money back?
Open a case with ebay?
No idea, I haven’t had a case like this before.

OP1 week agoExactly, kept hanging on,,,,delivery problems...I'm on a short vacation right now...I'll get back to you....that apparently worked well.
I reported the case to PayPal at lunchtime today and got the refund back immediately.
PP now calls this an "open case" but I'm still curious whether anything else will come of it on the seller's side

Mentor1 week agoWhat matters is that you got your money back, @schfachi .

Mentor1 week ago · EditedHi @schfachi
unpaid items can only be reported within 30 days:

Correction 13:25 : I unfortunately overlooked that you are the buyer. Then simply open a dispute with the payment provider.

OP1 week agoYes, I’m the buyer.
Basically, it’s about the goods being paid for but not delivered.
I think 5 weeks is a reasonable amount of time for my patience; now I want to have the amount charged back.

Mentor1 week ago5 weeks is reasonable? Wow, very patient person if you wait that long for a paid item and risk buyer protection. Ebay is out after 30 days, and now the only thing you can do is try to open a dispute through the payment provider.
That makes me wonder why the delivery times are shown on the item if you wait forever and let yourself be strung along.
