No payment received despite shipping confirmation
Summary: nikotiden has experienced an issue where, despite receiving a payment confirmation from eBay, the funds did not appear in their account. They received a notification about 'unusual selling activities' and are seeking advice on its meaning. meinehexe11 explained that the funds are only released two days after confirmed delivery, typically requiring tracked shipping, which was not used. There was confusion over eBay's shipping suggestions, and perfect-sally clarified that shipment tracking is only available if the label was created through eBay, and highlighted the conditions for seller protection. nikotiden expressed concern about the buyer not receiving the package, and further discussion confirmed tracking details depend on how the shipping label was handled.
Despite a confirmation email from eBay that the item was paid for, nothing showed up in my eBay account. In the messages I found this email, but I don't know what it means ("unusual selling activity"):
"Unusual selling activity was detected for your account. The amounts for your sales will be available for payout 2 days after confirmed delivery of the item.
The item was sent as a large letter without tracking - which is what eBay suggested to me.
I’d appreciate any advice on what to do and information about what the eBay message means.

No, not as suggested by ebay, but that's what you specified. And if the label was created via ebay, you at least have basic tracking.

OP2 weeks agoThanks. By "Suggested by Ebay" I meant that when buying the shipping label, this format was suggested. The buyer has now written to me that the shipment has (still) not arrived. Is there any way I can confirm to him via basic tracking that it was sent by me?

Mentor2 weeks agoOnly if the label was created / paid for on ebay, and then you also have seller protection if the total price (item + shipping) did not exceed €20.

Mentor2 weeks agoHey there.
I can’t really tell you exactly what the eBay message means either. What I do know is that confirmed delivery means shipping with tracking. You don’t have that with a large letter, so you’ll have to wait 30 days for your money.
Here you can read up on payouts:

OP2 weeks agoThanks for the link to the info. I haven't sold anything on eBay in ages and didn't know that the money doesn't go straight into the eBay account (back then it used to be that you only sent the item after the money had arrived; once I didn't wait for it to come in and sent the package off beforehand, and sure enough, no money came...)

Mentor2 weeks agoThat can't be right! You can't ship anything without payment because you don't have a delivery address. You only get that once the buyer has paid on eBay.

Mentor2 weeks agoBut sure, the buyer used to only be able to see the seller’s bank details once the purchase process was completed. As the seller, you then also had the delivery address.
Apparently this is about the time before payment processing by eBay.
