Costs for reshipping

Hello dear Ebay Community,
I have the following problem.
A buyer did not pick up the item I sent, and after it had been sitting in a DHL station for seven days, it was returned to me.
The buyer would like me to send the item again and is also willing to cover the shipping costs. However, it seems that Ebay itself does not have any function where the seller could refund me the money for this.
I also can't send him a message that contains contact or payment information.
So how do I proceed now without having to cover the shipping costs a second time?
The buyer also wants me to send the item to Italy now (which would basically not be a problem), but that would make shipping even more expensive. So paying myself is not an option.

great that you're sharing your post with us.
If you'd like me to take a look at the exact details of the matter, please let me know the order number. Then I'll be happy to take a look.
But I can already tell you that the risk would be too high to send the item to a different delivery address now. Aside from the fact that the system doesn't accept your payment details. In exceptional cases, a transaction may go through outside of eBay, but then this would also have to be handled via customer service in this case regarding the IBAN, etc.
So my recommendation to you is: cancel the sale. List the item again and your buyer will then buy the item with their updated delivery address. Then you'll definitely be on the safe side.

Mentor5 days agoeBay doesn't have functions like that to pay for shipping again. That only works outside of eBay, and for that you're actually not supposed to give out the data either.
But you should definitely not send it to Italy; if you don't ship to the delivery address stated on eBay, you lose your seller protection and then it's your problem.
Either to the delivery address given on eBay, or better not at all.

many thanks for the quick and helpful reply.
I tried twice to send the buyer a message, once with my IBAN and then again with my PayPal details. Both times I got a message saying that sharing contact or payment details outside the eBay platform is not allowed.
I’ll probably not send it to Italy then.
How I’m going to solve the problem still isn’t really clear, though. Unfortunately, eBay’s chatbot is absolutely no help either

Do you not find the buyer’s phone number in the purchase details, or can he see yours?
