Deletion of neutral review without content
Summary: oli-wan_de sold a video game on eBay with disclosed defects and received a neutral "Si" rating, which they believe is unjustified. They asked the buyer to change it, but received no response. perfect-sally explained that eBay doesn't remove ratings unless they violate guidelines. petersmodellbahnstuebchen questioned the impact of the neutral rating and suggested that it might not deter future buyers. oli-wan_de expressed frustration as the rating seemed baseless to them.
Hello,
I sold a video game on eBay that had some defects (water damage on the booklet, engraved name on the inside of the case, something written on the outside of the case with felt-tip pens). I documented everything in 14 photos in the listing and also pointed out all the defects in the item description. Accordingly, the purchase price at the end of the auction was not as high as it would have been for the same game in top condition.
After some time, I politely asked the buyer whether he could still leave me a review.
Now I got a neutral review that only says "Si" as text. When I asked him to change the review, he didn’t respond. I also officially asked him for a revision, I was able to select that on eBay and explicitly wrote that I had done everything right.
From when and how can I contact eBay? Can they then delete the neutral review if the buyer doesn’t get in touch?
Please stay polite and don’t be smart-alecky. Been there, done that here. :)

honestly: what exactly bothers you about this neutral rating?
And do you really think that would stop a potential buyer from buying from you?
By the way, you could have left out the last bit: Please stay polite and don’t be so know-it-all.

OP2 weeks agoBecause it happened for no reason.
And the second, because I was already started on here.

Mentor2 weeks agoYou can’t really get eBay involved in that sense, and the rating won’t be deleted either because it doesn’t violate any guidelines.
oli-wan_de
OP2 weeks agoOkay, thanks. Does that apply only to neutral reviews or also to negative ones?
perfect-sally
Mentor2 weeks agoIf a review does not violate guidelines or contain prohibited words, it will not be deleted; it doesn't matter whether it is neutral or negative.
oli-wan_de
OP2 weeks agoThen I'll only rate neutrally too 😅
perfect-sally
Mentor2 weeks agoOn what grounds? You want everyone else to pay now because, in your opinion, you were rated unfairly by a buyer?
I’d think that through carefully; it can also backfire, and if you give excessively bad ratings, your rating rights can also be revoked.

Mentor2 weeks agoHey @oli-wan_de
statements like this here in the forum can also lead to you ending up on one or another blacklist.
Best regards from the Baltic Sea
