Laptop with RAM error after sale – return and refund
Summary: daftpunk61 sold a laptop that worked without any problems for them. After receiving it, the buyer installed unknown software, which led to repeated black screens. A hardware test revealed a faulty RAM module, and even after reinstalling Windows, the problem persisted. The buyer requested a return and refund, which daftpunk61 ultimately agreed to, even though the laptop is now altered and partially defective. daftpunk61 is looking for experiences or advice on a similar case.
Hello everyone
I sold a laptop that worked flawlessly for me and showed no hardware problems whatsoever. After receiving it, the buyer installed software that is unknown to me. After that, she reported repeated black screens. She reinstalled Windows, but that did not improve anything. A subsequent Dell hardware test reportedly showed a faulty RAM module, according to the buyer. With 48 GB of RAM, the device apparently still works.
She opened a return and requested a refund. At first I refused, but meanwhile I have agreed to take it back.
The laptop is now no longer being returned in its original condition. Through the installation of unknown software and the complete Windows reinstall, it has already been messed with quite a bit. So I am supposed to take back a modified and, according to the buyer, partly defective device and bear all the costs, even though it worked perfectly for me. I find that incomprehensible.
Has anyone had experience with a case like this?
