Problems with the VAT ID
Summary: A discussion about problems with the VAT identification number was started, but no further details or content were shared by the participants.
Hello, I have the following problem:
My eBay listings were all set to inactive because I didn’t have a VAT ID (I didn’t know that you need one even as a small business.
The day before yesterday I was finally assigned a VAT ID, and I immediately added it on eBay too.
However, I still can’t relist my listings...
I get this error message:
Unfortunately this account appears to be in violation of our policy that you must comply with German tax rules, so we have restricted your ability to list items. We recommend that you ensure you comply with your tax obligations and if necessary, seek professional tax advice.{e293119-1234519x}
Since eBay support is useless, I’m trying it this way... maybe someone here can help me.
Thanks in advance.

Mentor2 months agoHello @faires_drechselholz,
thank you very much for your message.
We have to make an automatic query with the Federal Central Tax Office. In your case, the check was carried out on 13.05.26 and we received the response that the number does not exist. That is why you get this message when you want to list the items. Please check the entry again to see whether the number is correct and save the details again. Then a new query will be started automatically.
At the same time, I have requested a temporary suspension in your name so that you can still list your items until the matter is clarified. As soon as we receive a response from the specialist department, we will get back to you.
What is important first and foremost, however, is that the VAT no. is checked and corrected.
@petersmodellbahnstuebchen - Thanks for the tag
@perfect-sally - Thanks for the support
Kind regards

Mentor2 months agoHello @faires_drechselholz
all the details on eBay must match those at the BZSt 100%. Even the smallest discrepancy will be rejected.
Just as an example: does your business license say Faires Drechselholz, or rather just your real name?
And there are lots of things that could fail to match.
One time the street is written out in full, another time abbreviated as Str....and so on and so on.
And your legally required business details also leave a lot to be desired, so you’re at risk of receiving a warning letter.
Privacy policy?
Right of withdrawal?
Model withdrawal form?
No returns? I’d first check whether that’s even possible for your items.
