Problems with newly purchased inverter. Warranty claim problematic.
Summary: ronherb81 reports ongoing problems with a device a year after buying an inverter from a dealer. The dealer is only offering to send the inverter back for inspection, which is problematic for ronherb81 because they depend on solar power. ronherb81 suggested getting a replacement device to avoid power outages during the repair period, but the dealer refused. perfect-sally explains that sellers do not offer a warranty, only statutory warranty rights, and after a year the burden of proof shifts. Ebay offers no additional solutions beyond standard replies in the chat. ronherb81 expresses frustration with the situation.
I bought a new inverter from a dealer about a year ago. This thing has been causing problems for quite some time now. I contacted the dealer 2 months ago.
He just keeps offering to have me send the device back so they can inspect it.
Then they would maybe repair it and send it back. Sounds nice at first...BUT...I need this inverter so I have power (I live off-grid on solar power). I suggested that they send me a new device so I can send the defective one back. That way I wouldn't have any power outage.
But they won't agree to that!
Bottom line, I would now have to buy a new device for €750 so I can send back the defective one. Then they repair the thing, I get it back, and then I have two inverters...great. After all, who doesn't love having an unused device sitting in the cupboard...
Unfortunately, I can't find any help through eBay...apart from these canned responses in the chat...
All very frustrating!!!!

Mentor1 month agoHello @ronherb81 ,
the seller has a right to subsequent performance through repair.

Mentor1 month agoFirst of all, sellers do not give any warranty; only manufacturers do that.
Sellers only have a statutory warranty obligation, but after 1 year from the purchase, the burden of proof is reversed and the buyer must prove that the damage / defect already existed at the time of purchase.
And eBay is not responsible for your consumer rights either; you have to enforce them yourself.
