Refund to my eBay account - 60 days after purchase
Summary: wiseacreboy reports on a defective device and a replacement device, for which the seller refuses a refund on eBay after 30 days. They paid with VISA Debit and are facing a problem because only PayPal is being offered, which they reject. A partial refund for another defective part has already been processed, but the main issue remains unresolved. The seller has made several promises that were not kept, and wiseacreboy criticizes eBay for not providing sufficient support and for having many Chinese sellers on the platform who do not meet EU warranty requirements. As a result, they are considering reducing their use of eBay.
Hello, the device and replacement device are defective, the seller wants to refund the money to me, but he said: after 30 days, access - to my eBay account - would no longer be possible. He said the same about the return label - he could no longer create one; I would first have to buy something new from him in order to be able to create a corresponding label.
Is it true that after the 30-day return period the seller no longer receives any corresponding data and that eBay is supposed to be completely out of the picture?

that was a refund for a defective remote; the (first) device itself was still okay at the time.
Since the end of April I’ve been arguing with said seller about getting my money back or exchanging it for another item of equal value.
Over and over again it was said... okay, we’ll do that ... and the next day it gets denied again... so since April until today we’ve been going around in circles...
It just can’t be that only one payment method is accepted here, unless the China seller has deliberately stalled me so they could go down exactly this route?
Because I already told him at the beginning that I categorically exclude PayPal.
Good to know that nothing helpful can be expected from eBay in this regard (even for future purchases), so I won’t be putting myself through this kind of hassle anymore and will be cutting back my eBay activity in the future.
eBay lets China sellers onto the platform in droves without them offering legally compliant EU warranty terms (that also includes, if needed, crediting the amount back to the same eBay account)... and the customer is then left entirely at the mercy of China goodwill or is out of luck in the end, which is definitely no longer ‘my thing’!
Honestly, it would be so easy/simple/straightforward: eBay would only have to unlock my account details once for this and everything would be fine..., but nope...

The remaining amount can only be refunded outside of eBay.

Mentor3 weeks ago@wiseacreboy on the one hand, a seller can make a refund via eBay up to 90 days after a sale! That doesn’t really have anything to do with opening a case/buyer protection.
How did you actually pay for your purchase on eBay? Credit card?
@selina_b@ebay could you please take a look? It can’t be that Te has to buy again so that the Chinese seller can get hold of some data that he should already have long since.

OP3 weeks agoHmm, annoying, from China I’m only being offered PayPal, but I don’t have PayPal and my relatives don’t want to send their PayPal ID to China. According to the seller, VISA from China usually doesn’t work. Well, I guess I’ve thrown 72 euros down the drain. Unfortunately, the first device only broke after about 6 weeks... Cheers
