Refund
Hello. I am a seller. The buyer returned an item because of alleged counterfeit. I accepted the return and received the goods back. However, the purchase price was not paid out to me, but withheld by eBay. The buyer is now personally demanding a refund from me and is threatening to file a criminal complaint. Do I have to transfer the money back myself or wait until eBay automatically sends the money to the buyer from the withheld funds.

Take a close look at the case. There should also be the option to refund the amount requested to the buyer, even from your withheld credit.

MentorAug 15, 2026 at 9:18 AMYou have to refund via eBay just like the buyer paid via eBay. Either the amount is deducted from your held funds, or eBay first takes it from your bank account until the held amount is released.
