I have a question about a refund at eBay.
I bought an item for €1,059 and sent it back right after receiving it on the same day. The return has now arrived at the seller’s and eBay says: “The item has been delivered” and “The refund should arrive by Aug 4.”
The seller is not a private seller. I’m wondering how the process works exactly: As I understand it, the payout to the seller had not yet been completed and the amount was still being held by eBay.
Will the held amount then be used for my refund, or does the seller still have to actively confirm the refund? And can eBay trigger the refund automatically if the seller does nothing?

And why are you assuming that the seller hasn’t received the payout yet? In the end, it doesn’t matter where the refund comes from. If the seller doesn’t refund it themselves, then you can contact eBay and they’ll take care of it and simply get the money from the seller’s bank account if they don’t have any balance in eBay.
