Refund for an older purchase doesn't show up on eBay
Summary: limmerr had trouble getting a refund for a purchase through eBay. They reported that the seller initiated the refund on 06/30/2026, but the reimbursement did not appear in the account. voli-maus and other members offered advice, but it turned out that eBay cannot process refunds systematically for purchases older than 90 days. In the end, melina@ebay clarified the issue, and limmerr received the refund by bank transfer directly from the seller.
Hello community, due to a defect/return shipment for a 6-month-old item, I received a refund from "Saturn" to the payment method "eBay".
I was also informed of this by message via eBay.
This refund still does not appear in my account to this day. I paid via PayPal, and PayPal charges my credit card.
There is also no refund with PayPal or the credit card provider.
Saturn says I should contact eBay, but unfortunately I haven't managed to do that; the AI keeps sending me in circles.
Does anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks for your post. I was happy to check the order for you. The purchase is from December 2025, so it's over 90 days old. Through eBay, a refund for a purchase that is over 90 days old is no longer systematically possible. In the order overview, I also don't see any proof of a completed refund.
Here, a refund is only possible outside of eBay, e.g. by bank transfer or via PayPal. Contact your seller again and send them your PayPal details. If they insist that a refund was initiated, you’re welcome to request proof from them.

here is the message from the seller:
"According to our system, the refund was successfully sent out on 30/06/2026.
This was refunded to the payment method you used when placing the order.
In your case, it is EBAY; if you cannot see any refund, we ask you to contact EBAY. "
Could it be because there was possibly no account set up for payouts?
I'm not sure, I confirmed or activated it again two days ago.

Shouldn't I see it in my PayPal account?
With my credit card provider, I can also view every transaction in the app.
Simply NOTHING seems normal to me.
