Returning an item (damaged)
Summary: krayziejb sold a damaged item on eBay and described it correctly in the listing. After the buyer returned it, the item is now even more damaged, which makes resale more difficult. Despite agreeing to a refund, krayziejb has no way to offer a partial refund and can only refund the full amount. They are looking for a way to recover part of the sale value and are considering reporting the issue to eBay.
Here’s the situation: I sold something on eBay, and it was already damaged when I sent it off, but that was also described that way in the listing. After receiving it, the buyer then requested a return, which I agreed to. He’s now sent the package back to me, and now it’s even more damaged than before! Since I’m not a commercial seller, I don’t have the option to issue only a partial refund. I can only refund the buyer the full amount. But that can’t be right either, because resale is now more difficult/impossible because of the increased damage. I tried to go through this with the AI, but I can’t contact eBay about this case. My only option here is to approve the refund. I can enter a “report a problem” in the refund and include my photos/description, but then it still only refunds the full amount. What do I need to do now so that I at least get back part of the sale value.
Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, Jens
