Return of air conditioner
Summary: rebata-74 reports a possible fraud case involving the return of an air conditioner via eBay. Despite the item being returned properly, the seller remains inactive and the eBay system ruled in the seller’s favor. An eBay employee was tagged to review the case, and it was forwarded for further investigation. A response from eBay is still pending.
My question is also directed to eBay employees from the Community Team, because you can’t send eBay an email.
(Feedback: impressum@ebay.de is not for contacting customer service. Kind regards, eBay Customer Service)
I am the buyer rebata-74 with the
order no. 03-14895-47663
Have I become a victim of fraud because the seller is abusing loopholes in the eBay system?
In the return of an air conditioner (1350€), where the seller covers the return shipping costs, the seller also uploads the return tracking number into the eBay system. Then he cancels it and leaves it there until the return case is ultimately decided against me by the eBay system because no shipping proof is available automatically (22.08.2026).
Before that, the seller sends me a second updated return label. I use this to send back the air conditioner on time.
So the seller gets the sold air conditioner back and can also keep the purchase price of 1350€.
As the buyer, I get nothing, no air conditioner and no money.
The eBay chat bot also says that the decision cannot be appealed. In the end, I managed to arrange a call back by phone. There I was told that the only thing you can do is ask the seller to voluntarily refund the 1350€.
Of course, the seller no longer responds. So do I have reason to suspect I am a victim of fraud?
Or how do you see this case?

Mentor1 week agoHello @rebata-74 .
I’m stepping in here for my colleague Alena. Our specialist department has reviewed the details of your case. The seller has already agreed to the refund and has always been cooperative. Since not even 24 hours have passed yet, we’d like to ask for a little patience regarding the refund. We have already contacted the seller and asked again for the refund.
Please also keep in mind that, according to the records available, the delayed shipping, or rather the use of the wrong shipping label, is not the seller’s fault. We therefore cannot see this as a fraud case. I’m confident that you’ll receive the refund in the very near future, and thank you for your efforts.
Best regards
Melina
